Swiss company Acabion is to offer a bizarre high-performance motorbike-streamliner, which it calls the GTBO. This is effectively an enclosed motorbike with an ultra-light bodyshell; it has two conventionally-sized wheels plus two small part-time wheels - these work like stabilisers on a kid's pushbike to aid driving at low speeds, but retract into the body at higher speeds for a superbike experience. Lightweight racing versions of these, or heavier hydraulic struts, can be specified.
Acabion claims that the GTBO - which has a 700bhp turbocharged motor - can do 280mph and 0-250mph in around 20 seconds... hardly surprisingly, given that it has a similar power-to-weight ratio to a Formula One car (and weighs far less). Speed freaks and nutters sign up now: the company plans to make just 26 examples over the next four years. And it'll even be road-legal.
