m stuck on the 2nd seasonal rx7 race, i just cant get close.

Ive bought the Spirt FD version i think its called and its about 5bhp under the limit but over 300kg above the weight limit.

I cant get it down anymore but i cant get better than 2nd with the leader being over 10 seconds in front.

Which car would be the best to attempt this race with,? im not interested in using the skid recovery aid.

Is this the race on Tsukuba? If so I used the Spirit R type A.

I also used skid recovery force, which I don't like to do, but this event is tuned for it, if you ask me.

The Spirit R should be fine. I used the Bathhurst model. I think they are about the same weight when entered. Not sure why they set the weight limit so low in this or the GTR races makes it appear that you can use the race car but you can not.

For those struggling (as I have been for who knows how long now) with the new RX7 event at Tsukuba, and are determined not to use Skid Recovery, here's what I used to get gold:

- Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) '02
- Stage 3 weight Reduction/windows/carbon hood (1051Kg)
- Rigidity Improvement
- Added all aero parts (set to 0/28)
- Fully custom transmission (set to 193mph)
- Sports Intake Manifold + Racing Air Filter
- Sports ECU + Stage 2 Engine Tuning (394 HP)
- Catalytic converter + Titanium Semi-racing exhaust
- Fully custom Suspension (Ride Height -20/-20, Springs 16.0/6.3, Dampers 10/5, 10/5, ARB 4/4, camber 2.0/2.0, toe 0/0)
- Twin clutch plates + Carbon propeller shaft + Semi-racing flywheel
- Brakes set to 8/9
- Tyres were Sports Hard as standard
- ABS 1, TC 0, SRF off, ASM off, Driving line off
- MOST IMPORTANTLY - painted the car Matte Yellow :D

I know it's a great deal of cash to spend, but I wanted the car anyway due to amazing fun had in GT5 Prologue, I wanted it in yellow, and I wanted a souped up one regardless. This was a perfect excuse and bloody hell it was all very necessary to win this race.

What you will find is that if you're getting a good deal out of the car you should be running 1'00.xxx laps all the way through, best lap here was 1'00.000 but 59s are easily do-able even without Skid Recovery, ASM, TCS etc. You will typically knock about 3 seconds per lap off the leading Skyline and on lap 10 he catches the Fairlady Z backmarker that slows him down a LOT and you will make up much more time on Lap 10. On the exit of the corner that leads onto the back straight on lap 10 I got really out of shape and on the grass, but still managed to re-pass the SKyline into the last corner.

That was a mega challenge, and you end up with a killer RX-7 tuned to the back teeth at the end :)

Remember....YELLOW.

Your set up is the business!! Although my lap times still need abit of fine tuning before I can snatch the gold at least I'm slowly getting there. Thanks for ya setup. If only we had 1st generation RX7s, at least we would be able to flirt with oh so low weight restriction on this race.
