just a few pictures taken today at my roommate's grand opening for his shop. We had a good turnout, people coming and going all day. Still waiting on some pictures taken of people's car's that attended but these are mostly from inside the shop.

My roommate's supra is the red one up on the lift, his friend's is the black one. I had my friends bring their NSX and S2000 in the garage as well. There were a lot of nice cars in the lot outside but like I said, don't have them at the moment.

woohoo! Rice rockets! No doubt they are fast, but does this guy specialize in catering to the Fast and the Furious crowd?

rice rocket? Is that your cute name for imports? Sorry, I don't have shots of the S/C'ed Cobra, C6 ZO6, C5 ZO6, Lightning, etc. sitting outside right now. He has a background with imports, his partner he's working with is more versed with domestics. They can cover all bases. Just because a car isn't American doesn't make it "Fast and Furious". What do you drive, again? Sounds like a little hate...or ignorance?

Wow, that NSX and S2000 look hot!

Well done on your mate opening the shop, I hope it all works out for him.

Did he have this in his mind when he started building the Supra a few months back?

Looks cool man, good luck with business.

BTW do you have any more pics of that NSX? It's really nice. I don't really know NSX's but is that rear wing set up from a NA2 Type R NSX?

I think he was referring to that S2000 with a, [questionable] body kit. ;)

Hope your friend has good business, looks like he has a more *ahem* privileged clientele. :D 👍

Completely inappropriate, and uncalled for. At some point, people will realize this trend has been around for decades. The last decade has brought it more to the fore front of automotive sports.

Like it or not, import tuning is the snowboarding of of the new century.

As a wrap up, another comment like this and you'll have your own special thread in the moderators forum.

Really nice Autos!

That NSX is just beautiful...

Um, right...That explains the stock bodies on both Supras and NSX...And the wheels on that red one, if I'm thinking of the right ones, those are a couple grand a piece...Maybe you should go watch FnF again to refresh your memory.

EDIT: The black Supra has stock wheels, so I'm guessing jesterguy was right when he said you use rice rockets as another term for imports.

On Topic: Awesome cars, and good luck with the shop, I hope to see more pics of the cars you will be working on in the future.

Congrats to your friend for opening the shop! 👍

Its a big move opening your own business, hopefully it works out well for him. Keep us updated on how the shop is doing, and who knows, maybe one day you can get someone on here a discount for going there.

thanks for all of the comments, everyone! 👍

He had been looking to open his shop up for a while now, just finding a good location took some time. The Supra was and is going to be great advertising for them, it's a good way to get customers in. He did it for himself when he started building it up, but now that he runs the business, people see it and want to come to him for work. He's going to be running it at a lot of track events this year so it will help him even more having it out there this season.

hah, I like it though. He loves the look of the official CWest S2000, so the front bumper, skirts, rear lip, hood, mirrors, etc. are all CWest. It's rarely driven though, but he's got a ton invested in it and has a lot of stuff on the way. Really turns heads though, it's a nice car.

It's a Cantrell NSX-R wing, I believe it's available through scienceofspeed. From what I understand the actual NSX-R wing runs in the $5-6,000 dollar range so most opt for a cheaper alternative (Cantrell, Taitec, etc.), even though that cheaper alternative still runs +$1,000.

BTW, if the proportions of certain areas look a bit off on these, it's just the lens that was used to shoot it.

...I feel like I've seen that NSX before...

When I was in Miami a few years ago (returning in the end of June), there was one that looked nearly identical to that sitting outside of the Georgio Armani store. I didn't have my camera with me that afternoon, but it certainly was picture-worthy...

I love Virginia vanity plates!

How long is my thread?

I believe it's a lot cheaper to have them in VA as opposed to other places so they're a lot more prominent here.

I don't believe this one has ever been located in Florida before, might have been a similar one. The NSX-R style is pretty popular so there are a lot of variations on it.

Nice start...looks kind of empty though. You've got a lot of tools to get yet :)

to the naked eye :)

Both of those snap-on chests in the back are crammed full of all kinds of snap-on, MAC tools. A smaller air compressor and a lot of the fabrication machines are behind that door behind the black Supra and S2000. There are a couple more on a work bench off to the side as well. There is a larger capacity air compressor above the office and he's mounting the reels and hoses for it on the back wall for all of the air tools. Believe me, they've got a BUNCH of tools, just very organized :)

Good point. The one I saw had the "hood" replaced with a glass one so you could see the engine, and if I'm remembering correctly, it was supercharged. It looked really nice, and I'm generally not too big of a fan of Japanese sports cars (most of the time).

The "hood" is the rear windshield, of course it's clear. Although it does have another opening area in the rear, but that goes to the trunk.

See, I'm not an NSX fan at all. I just know there was a glass opening (similar to the Ferrari 360 and F430) to see the engine.

...This is why I like Corvettes and Vipers...

Where in Virginia are you located? I might be interested in seeing those cars personally sometime.

peninsula area, around Hampton/Newport News/Yorktown. The Supra is there most of the time, the NSX and S2000 are by sporadically.

I think he's referring to the shroud that covers the engine. They've got them available in mesh, CF, FRP, and even ones like he saw that do have a clear covering in them that allows you to see the engine. This particular one has it all in CF:

Nice 👍

I'm quite jealous of that collection :)

👍 for the Hondas; S2000 looks awesome in black. I'm not really a Supra person.

Congratulations on the opening and good luck! Those walls really need some posters on them or something... it looks so bare. If he;s anything like me, don't expect the tools to stay organised for long :)

Well, technically, it's not.

The NSX's hood is under the rear windsheild.

Most owners though will just remove it to show off the engine.

True - and Virginia has one of the smartest populations of any U.S. state, so the vanity plates tend to be extremely clever.
