Is it possible to connect 3 or 4 monitors to, 2 nvidia 6600 GT cards, combined on a SLI motherboard??

2, 6600GT cards combined on a SLI motherboard and connect 3 monitors to these 2 graphics cards. But I don't know if this is possible, to change the horizontal span in the “settings” across 3 monitors,( which are connected to 2, 6600GT (on a SLI bord)). There are still 4 DVI ports all together when you use 2, 6600 GT cards. Hopefully it is possible to connect only 3 monitors and change the “settings “ to get a horizontal span across these 3 monitors.

I wanted to use "horizontal span" with GTR. Tried it with 2 monitors and this is awsome. With 3 monitors it's even better.
Don't want to use matrox parhelia because these cards (i have been told) are way too slow (low fps)

Yesterday, I wrote an email to nVidia with the same question.
Didn't expect to get an answer so soon.

This is their reply:

No this is not possible. Horizontal span is limited to two monitors
on the Geforce line of graphics cards.
While in SLI mode, it is limited to a single monitor.
:ouch:

Hello,

I know it is possible to change the “settings”
and use horizontal span across two monitors with
one 6600GT card. I want to use surround gaming.
I know that this is possible with one 6600GT card
and two monitors (horizontal span).

Is it possible to connect 3 or 4 monitors to,
two nvidia 6600 GT cards, combined on a SLI motherboard and
change the “horizontal span”across 3 monitors in the 6600 GT settings?

I want to get myself, 2 6600GT,
if surroud gaming is possible with 3 monitors connected
to two 6600GT combined on a SLI motherboard.

Don't know if it is necessary to keep this thread open??

Oh, ok. No, if you want to do 3D stuff with all of the monitors, no, that's not possible. You can span the windows desktop across all 4 tho.

Yep. I hope that nVidia creates an whole new kind of graphics cards with awsome performance with surround gaming capabilities and ofcourse be able to use two of them on a SLI motherboard

Unless and until nVidia changes the way their SLI setup works, you'll never be able to run 3D on more than one monitor... they might be able to get it to do it across however many monitors you can hook up to one of the cards in the system (which right now is two, but they could always go to a triple-head system like the Parhelia) but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.
