30gb ps3 wont read discs

Don't know why it won't read game discs. Today I tried to go on gt5 and tdu2 but it never loaded the games, it registered them as the blue light has switched on but, I cannot play them. Anyone got any solutions?

No. It's the laser but I need to find a quick, cheap fix. Either that or pay £80 for a bigger memory ps3, probably the latter...

That happened to my old 60GB fat PS3 but it was still under warranty so Sony repaired it for me. The older PS3's have very dodgy lasers.

My version (37gb) had a 40% fail rate. I mean, for a new console that's bad.

Year, I think the year the ps3 came out. And Sony support ain't no fu**ing help either. "its your disc, it's scratched."
"HOW CAN 7GAMES AND 4DVDS ALL BE SCRATCHED!?!"
They know about the problem but refuse to fix it for free. Despite being a common fault.

Wow that PS3 has been running a long time haha i have been through 4 PS3's since my first release day one. From my experience it took alot of phone calls for them to agree to repair it and it had a warranty. Just keep trying them until you find someone who has a bit of sense.
