350Z Crash. Why?

Thats a video of the Nissan 350Z car driving at over 350 km/h, the driver crashed it with around 290 km/h and I dont have even the slightest idea why.

At the very and of the tape you can see what happened from the cockpit camera, the driver shifts two gears down and suddenly he just turns the driving wheel sharp left at over 290 km/h; and it does not look like an accident. What the heck?

The whole tape is japanese and I have no idea what the driver is talking about. Could someone explain me what happened? The only thing I saw that just before the crash there was something with 7300rpm.

Well the driver turns left and the car spins right, what does that tell you? It seems to me that a problem developed with the car and it lost control and he tried to prevent a spin by turning left, but he was unable to regain control. You can see and hear that there is a problem before the crash, the engine note changes notably and also the car starts shaking a lot. also you can see that he's suddenly having a harder time keeping the car in a straight line. It looks very much like an accident to me.

EDIT: For thoes just interested in the crash, skip the first min or so, it shows the crash a couple of times later on and nearer the end it's the incar camera showing the drivers actions.
 
Site unseen, just from the description in Dave A's post, I'd say that there was a suspension failure in the right front. He steered left to try to keep the car straight, and he didn't want to load the front up by braking, so he stuffed it way down into a lower gear in a desperate attempt to slow the car before the inevitable happened.
 
I remember it was a tyre blowout that caused the Option Z to lose control, you can hear the tyre delaminate in the video.

I think it was a tire failure, which is why he was downshifting instead of braking to slow down. The steering input was because of drag on the failed side. I think he had it under control until that last downshift, which dragged the rear wheels too hard, losing the back end. That last downshift was also awful quick after the one before. Also, in lower gears the engine has more torque advantage over the wheels, so maybe that last downshift shouldn't have even happened at all.
I can't tell if the engine was running or being turned by the drivetrain. If the engine was running the downshift could have been smoothed by a throttle blip.

Edit: thinking about it, I think a front tire failure would have been visible in the roof shot as the tire shreds and blows out the fender. A rear tire failure wouldn't have kept him off the brakes. So now I'm not so sure.

Because components in machines take huge amount of stress that aren't simulated in video games very well.
