3DS Max 6 issue

i recently got and installed 3ds max 6 and it worked fine for a few days and now, the UCS icon doesn't show the name of the axis and the viewport names dont show up. also, when i try and move something, i can just move it by 1 axis because that icon doesn't show up either. does anyone have this problem too? here is a screenshot of the problem

ok, i havent used 3dsmax before, but ive used gmax so i assum its the same.
but like to show the viewport names goto like customiz->prefrences->viewports, and see if the names/thing isnt in there,

also check the prefrences for this other problem, and try right clicking on the toolbar under them main toolbar and select customixe on there and look for the move x/y/z/ all buutons/thing.

nope, still none. its really annoying cause now i can scale by 1 axis. also, where the viewport name should be, all there is is a dot.
