Does anyone know how often the A.I. pits? I'm setting up my car right now, and it's just barely making 5 laps on a set of tires. I'm sure I can draft the A.I. and play it cool for extended tire life.

I'm using the BMW GTR race car based on the "Typical Opponents" listing, this will give me a challenge right?

They normally do 5 laps per stint.

But the fifth lap is shameful. Like 2 minutes slower than with a new set of tires.

Dude...you're gonna smoke the competition with that car. If you're gonna use a race car, find something in the 250-300hp range. Seriously. My first time around, I used a 300HP Autobacs Arta Garaiya stock on racing hards with no assists except ABS=1 and won it by about 4 minutes or so...the AI just plain sucks. I was doing pits every 6 laps...sometimes 7 if I wasn't pushing it.

i just finished that one today for the first time. just grabbed a random car from my favs (blindly picked the cadillac cien) and ran with sport softs. had to pit every 3 laps and still lapped the field.

i had fun, that car is a handfull when tires droped below 50% (no assists except abs 1).

the exp was nice too - over 2 mil, which put me over half way to lvl 34.

Thanks guys. I'll search for another car. The listing says the highest horsepower car was about 500hp but I guess the A.I. sucks. Maybe I'll run my tii or 135i.

There is already a thread about this.

My opponents had about 600hp, and ran 8.40 lap times (amuse s2000) and pitted every five laps.

popular suggestion is the falken r24 gtr race car. I ran this race today in my stock ct230r and it was great, won by three minutes.

I ran it today pitted every three laps and lapped almost everyone. I was driving the CT230r with race softs.

111r lotus RM kills them...no joke...i can win on any track except the le mans track vs race cars... the lotus is a beast has more BHP to KG then most super cars

I too used this car, and was so comfortable on every turn and moment of racing I turned off all HUD and map and just cruised for long stints of time before checking up on tires etc.

EDIT: I should have checked the title, I used the Lotus RM on the Grand Valley enduro, however I assume you can get comfortably in front in this one also.

I did this race yesterday with the Ford GT LM Spec || Test Car and won by a little over 1 lap. Don't know if it's normal or just the car but I had to pit every 2 laps. If I pushed it and went for 3 laps then halfway through that 3rd lap I'd be all over the place because of lack of traction.

Was a fun drive nonetheless.

I did exactly this. Pitted every 3 laps, but the third lap would be 'challenging' to say the least. The Spec II Test car is a beast!

I've tried lots of different cars but considering you have to run 8:40 laps at the minimum to keep ahead of the R8 LMS and the GT1 Turbo I quickly discarded lots of cars (e.g. the Falken GT-R, 111R RM, DTM cars, etc.) which couldn't come close to 8:40 in any sort of comfortable way. Let alone for 4 hours straight without killing me. :scared:

I used the GT by Citroën Road Car and won by 1:30 secs... had a lead of 9 minutes (yes, more than one lap ahead) and then I parked near the finishing line waiting for the race to finish. Fantastic car, handles better than any car, lacks a bit of speed compared to others but I don't mind :)

For a challenge I would expect a car like the Skyline R34 V-spec could be used if tuned, maybe a stock R35 GT-R, of course with some other tyres.
