I think that everyone who plays Gran Turismo at some point has something special to share about the game, memories about how awesome was a particulary race, or how the game was able to touch you in so many differents ways.

Here's my short (today) story:

The father of my fiancee, a big fan of Gran Turismo since I've introduced the game one afternoon with GT4 on the PS2, is playing with me, right now, the 4 Hs Enduro Race in the Nurburgring.
I mean, a 50 years old man, is playing a virtual Enduro Race in Gran Turismo 5... with her future son-in-law... How awesome is that?

I know that this is not something so relevant to create a new thread, but I really wanted to share with you this moment.
We always run together, but an Endurance Race has something different I believe.

He even bought me a PS3 to play the game (I was selling consoles and games a while ago, but due to economic problems I leave it for a couple of weeks, at least for now).

Anyway, we ran for 02:16 min so far, lap 16 with an S2000 GTI Turbo 👍
We make a change every 4/5 laps.

A big hug.

I like this thread. I think it's important to highlight the fact that the age range of some of the more time consuming 'enthusiast' games is larger than most people think, and that perhaps even though the Enduros are largely seen to be a great solo accomplishment, perhaps PD also envisaged them bringing people together to take on the challenge, like the old days when you would swap controllers with mates in a single player game and get to analyze real time gameplay to improve your own.

Definitely herrwazza. It is something beyond any beliefs about videogames in general.
I mean, the regular car enthusiast can probably be stunned about how GT5 managed to do the things it do, but from there to actually grab a person who almost never played videogames into this world it is quite a successful story.

Being a gamer for almost my entire life has teached me a lot of things. From RPGs, FPS, Adventures, Puzzles to simulator. Always won something.
I love Playstation in general, but the thing about Gran Turismo has exceed my own expectations.

Thanks for answer herrwazza 👍

A big hug.

PS: 03:33 and running. Almost there! My turn now.

Go to race report forum for more stories. Great forum! I just finished the 4 hour Nurb last night, but I was alone. I'm going to create my own thread soon so be in touch.

Snake, that sounds so wonderful!

My special moment was my dad making me smell the GT2 oil/tyre smelling disc with my eyes closed! I had been waiting for the game, even at 8 years old! I guessed the smell right, and we spent all night taking turns doing the special events! Winning the 400R was my favourite bit, as I've always loved skylines!

GT2 isn't the best GT, 5 is. But the memories will not die, and as such, 2 is my all time favourite game!

And now, I have a dedicated sim setup for GT5, and I owe it all to that sniff!

That is beautiful my friend. Truly a nice story to read after such a crappy day as mine. Enjoy!

First of all, thanks to all to answer 👍
While listening U2, I really have to post a reply:

geezdaw, thanks man ;)
exiledfrenchy, GLAD to hear that our story lift you up in some ways 👍
bluraybha, you're totally right. Those moments are like pearls and we don't have to loose such things. I remember the early days with GT1/2 when I was practically a child, then GT3 came and it was like, man, reality doesn't look THAT good :dopey:.
My own setup also owes much to those moments. In fact, the setup that we are using was a gift for christmas to Enzo, my fiancee's father. I'm planning my own by the end of the year.
mikekhel30, I will look for it, just let me know. I really do.
Midnight Snacks :p jejeje

We ended up first luckely, some trouble with gasoline in one particulary lap when Enzo was like, fu·$& it, I'm planning to do one more lap with this... and it was like NO GASOLINE :dopey:, but we got to the pits for a VERY little margin 👍.

Our car was a S2000 with 280 HP if I remember right. Pretty well in general, TC was on 1, ABS on 1. It was very tight in several areas, later we begin to separate each other and the rest was history, but a pretty one in dact 👍

A big hug.
Waiting for other stories as well.
