can anyone that has a hi-def tv answer a curiosity that i have?

I'm wondering if gt4 is rendering in 480p if it takes crisper photos in photomode?

if someone could snap a shot in normal interlaced mode, then the same shot in 480p so i could compare them... that would be sweet.
unfortunately i can't afford such fancyness as HDTV.

Personally I'd think not. Becuase the game doesn't actually run in a higher resolution, just sends a signal with more information.

And photomode has nothing to do with the TV itself, or the video output for that matter.

But I'd love to be proven wrong should someone experiment. I have a HDTV ready tv but don't have the component cable for my ps2.

yeah, i don't *THINK* it would make a difference... but i'm very curious.
heh, i have the opposite problem... i have component cables but no hdtv. ;)

sure, I'll give it a go later this evening :) I'll even try 1080i, but I'm pretty sure they'll all yield the same picture.

well, that was a little more difficult than I'd anticipated ;) so now on with the pics! I managed to get the exact shot for the 480i and 480p shots(just slightly shifted), the 1080i shot was probably a frame off, since I used the same aperture on all of them.

480i:

1080i:

Now I did notice the PS2 came out of 1080i when I pressed select to get the picture, then switched back when I went back to the replay. It makes sense that the TV resolution would have nothing to do with the quality of the generated picture, as the file is always the same resolution(1280x960) no matter how you save it.

I don't see the difference in the pictures... Also I don't think a different TV or screen makes the pictures look more sharp or so. On your computer they all look the same anyway. It's not really like GT4 recoginises a particular screen and ajusts the photos for you... ;)

same here.......am also really looking foward to the PS3 :p native HDTV

oh, and photos are rendered separate from the rest of the game......so TV's dont matter as far as the photos go

thanks for confirming my theory g-man... glad to see that gt4 does something the way I would expect. 👍
