As the self appointed master of the LSD here on GT Planet, I do have to admit that 4wd LSDs remain perplexing to me. It just isn't as easy to see which wheel needs the help. The problem is that I have had success with using two very different LSD setups and both were fast.
I won a recent FITT Tuner Challenge using the following LSD settings.
On Tarmac:
LSD Front 10/12/7
LSD Rear 8/10/5
Front/Rear Torque Split 50/50
On Dirt:
LSD Front 15/35/7
LSD Rear 10/12/14
Front/Rear Torque Split 50/50
These two are similar in the use of 50/50 torque split and that the front LSD is using higher values than the rear for initial torque and accel. The thoery being to use more of the front drive to pull the car around the corner. It worked great. If anyone has raced against Ronald6 and his Subaru on the Nurburgring, you have probably spent a bit of time watching his tail lights drive away from you.
I finished on the podium of another FITT Tuner Challenge using these LSD settings.
LSD Front 7/8/6
LSD Rear 7/21/10
Torque Split 30/70
This was equally good at rotating around the apex. This setup thoery tried to minimize the affect of the front drive and get the car to act more like a FR drive train. The problem is that this also worked very well.
Because these two setups were almost equally fast, it left me without conclusive evidence to the real effect of moving settings up or down. I need to do more testing of this in 2.09, but I haven't had time to drive a 4wd yet.
