1/ Waiting for full Standard to premiums, Polyphony could add HD textures and smooth up standard cars polygons (especially the hard edges)

2/ Add new and CORRECT GENERIC engine sounds for each type of engine (V6, V8, V10, V12, ...)

3/ Add more GENERIC & SPECIFIC Sound layers: upshift/downshift "coffee grinding" gears, distorted echos for cars fading away from a fixed camera, LOUDER exhaust bangs and Crackles, Bow sound...)

4/ Open sections on the actual tracks (generally closed with invisible barriers) - the Top gear track comes to mind here.

5/ Put the BONNET view for every standards (instead of the TOP view)

I see you like V engines! :p
What about I2, I3, I4 (yes, many of these are wrong, too, not that anyone cares...), I5, I6, B4, Wankel "rotaries" etc.?

I don't agree that touching up Standards is a good use of time, though. I'd love it if they could do it, but I think it's better they spend time bringing them all the way up to Premium quality instead.

I agree that open layouts would rock so hard, but PD are too anal about that sort of thing; perhaps with good reason, as I imagine people would jump all over the likely visual defects to be found from straying off the beaten path. Still, there's always hope!

Your definition of simple seems to differ greatly from mine, because the only thing that wouldn't be a huge undertaking is the last one (and I don't want PD screwing up any more camera angles anyway).

They need to rectify how the game outputs sounds for the racing exhaust which still makes everything sound like a ricer on saturday night. Give me the ability to change the volume of sounds independently, transmission whine is top of that list. They really should redo the transmission sounds by themselves, where is the thunk? Change that interior standard car view to the one used on the PSP version, as it is right now cars with exterior mirrors on the body like hoods and such have no mirrors...yea oversight I take it. I would love to have a GT5 Dev kit at home to work with the camera positioning and see how it works by just clipping the camera through the model on the course.

@Griffith500: you're right, This would stand also for other type of engine... fact is even a GOOD decent GENERIC sample for each type of engine would make this game much better with little cost and it could be done quickly as a LOT of car in GT universe share the same sample. About the semi-premium, why? admitting it takes 6 months to make 1 premium, It would take less than that to make all the main iconic standards up to more PS3 standard (polygons smoothing and HD textures) than the old PS2 standard: here again the cost and the producing time would be minimum for a MUCH better overall experience .

@Toronado: the question is waiting for GT6, would you want 20-30 premium cars and very few tracks at the end of this year, or less premiums + all the most iconic standards ported to semi-premiums feature (HD texture and Polygon smoothing) + better sounds overall? it would be a nice poll...

I would love to see the ability to change a tuning option on the fly in practice mode, like forza 4 does it.

I would love that as an option, at the moment the cockpit view is way too static...

Honestly, I think they have spent enough time already on standards, they should just focus on premiums for DLC or GT6. You can put all the polish in the world on a standard but they will never be close to premium quality.

Sound updates though would be welcome, as at least they can be transferable to the next GT game

Don't be mistaken, I would love to see all the most iconic Standard brought to premium (we speak about 300-400 cars at most) but realistically it will take YEARS... this solution could work in the meantime, especially because absolutely NO work as been done on these standard since GT4 on the PS2 (and it shows!!!)

Realistic engine sounds!
It makes me cry how the mighty BMW McLaren F1 GTR sounds in GT5
Another amazing car turned into some horrible pile of poo.

Also, PD should covert following standard car list to premiums:

BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97
Toyota Celica 2000GT-FOUR (ST165) '86 (better yet, add the ST165 as the Rally Car with the Marlboro livery..the ST165 Carlos Sainz drove during the '90 and '91 WRC)
Peugeot 905 Race Car '92
Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI '93

just my $0.02

I would say they need to get the main advantages of Forza over:

- Engine sounds
- Better racing AI
- Dynamic cockpit
- All cars have premium forward facing cockpit views
- Event List

This is "quick and not too complicated" changes to make GT5 better not the "to do" list for GT6: :)

None of this is simple. This is just another "what would you like to improve in GT5" thread. But i do agree with your suggestions.

But let say it wouldn't take more than 6 month to code successfully. We will wait GT6 for a VERY long time...

None of us knows how much time would it take to code. And they should be concentrating on making GT6 instead of polishing standard cars or something.

Simple request.

Cut the transmission whine.

I don't mind it on an actual race car.

But, most of my tuned-up standards use stock gearboxes, because the racing unit makes me want to stab my own ears out. I'd rather hear Justin B than this.
