DOH! I watched this programme until about 11pm last night (or about #10 in the chart) and I fell asleep and missed the last hour. Did anyone else see it and can you remember roughly what was the top 10 (or even just the Top 3)?

I was surprised at how many I had seen, and the very first one up was a good one, 'When Louis Met Jimmy' (Louis Theroux spending 8 weeks with Jimmy Savile). Another favourite of mine was 'The Death Of Yugoslavia', not least because I had no real idea what had been going on before I saw that, and that they had interviews with absolutely everyone, even Slobodan Milosevic.

Anyway, anyone have any comments about their favourite documentaries, (even if they weren't in the Top 50), then feel free to add them too..

"Bowling For Columbine"(calm down, Viper Zero. I didn't belive everything :D) and "Michael Jordan To The Max". Also, maybe not "real" documentaries, but I really liked the extra feature documentaries on From Dust Till Dawn, called "Full Tilt Boogie" and the one from 12 Monkeys, which I don't remember the name. They are both long and very good. 👍

Donal MacIntyre's documentaries always have me enthralled.

The one where he went inside the Police Force was cool, as was the football hooligans infiltation and a recent one I saw where he bought illegal weapons in Bosnia!

The guy's got big stones to do the stuff he does - I always like watching them.

Mike Moore's Bowling for Columbine was good, but I found Farenheight 9/11 a little boring towards the end. Some very interesting facts though... (family ties)

On our campus network some guys is hosting over 300 gigs worth of documentaries. I haven't had the time to check them all out but what i've seen so far has been great. The documentary channel at home provided me with some great programs. Here's some of my favourites, I can imagine some of these made the list:

Any BBC Horizons documentary. All of these are done to perfection, extremely interesting and the topics are top notch.

Scratch, a personal favourite exploring the history of Turntablism.

War Photographer; a camera is mounted ontop of a war photographer's camera. It shows first hand the brutalities of war and poverty.

Terminal Bar; this one's different. A bartender of a New York bar called the Terminal Bar would take each customers portrait. The documentary is a graphical adventure following the timeline of clients and the bartenders story behind each face.

Anyone mentioning anything by Michael Moore needs to go look up the definition of "documentary" - his films don't qualify. They're about as much a documentary as This Is Spinal Tap is.

Runner-up goes to Supersize Me for stupidest "documentary" ever. Let's see: a guy purposely force-feeds himself the worst possible diet offered by McDonalds (conveniently ignoring all the actual healthy menu items as if they didn't exist), deliberately ingesting 3 to 5 times his required calorie intake every day and avoiding all excercise, and then pretends we should all be shocked that he got fat and his blood pressure went up.

I give him the Golden Dunce Cap award for his creative efforts.

Seconds from disaster, fantastic docu series.
Sahara with michael palin was great, so was the rainforest one.

Michael Palin's documentary's are usually very good. I tend not to watch TV enough to see much of anything though, I've seen bit of MacIintyre's stuff which was quite good as well but like I said I don't watch much TV, I almost solely switch on my TV for football matches and DVD's, the problem is theres still some decent things on but theres so much crap, wave's and wave's of crap (usually reality TV crap) and I can't be bothered.

lol whatever pays the bucks :P he has or had his own tv show. i dunno if its still on.
Yeah, he has a series now, called '30 Days' he does what he did in supersize me, except with a different topic every week.

BBC Horizon is a very good series of documentaries also.

What sort torture does he put his body through in the series? What are some of the topics?

Michael Moore is definitely garbage. Even though I usually agree with the cause he's fighting for, his 'documentaries' often lean towards propaganda, if anything. Especially Fahrenheit 911 was very far fetched and one sided.
