So I picked up the Mazda 787B tonight. (now wondering why i even bothered buying the HDI FAP).

However I'm left totally stumped with what this small digital gauge cluster on left part of the dash.

Any race car experts know what this shows? it seems to change rapidly for no apparent reason.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

Can't answer you question but i am chasing this car myself. Is it really that good? I have the 908, Gt-one, R8 01.

I would hate to blow it out of proportions but for me the difference is huge. I think the 908 is a bit 'tame'. IE you can actually catch the tail end if you are stupid with the throttle. However for me it lacks that Razors edge, on rails feeling that a proper race car should provide. The 787B feels like it will dive blindly towards apexes regardless of whether the car has enough grip to make it through the corner. It will do whatever you tell it to do, right or wrong (I'm a huge fan of this feeling).

Secondly, the car is just cooler. The history behind the Mazda win at Le Mans is fantastic. The car's design is both visually beautiful as well as efficient.

Lastly lets not forget that 4-rotor! The handling sells the car but the engine seals the deal. Besides having a fantastic power to weight ratio (better than the 908) it has much less torque. Which for me proves to make the car more predictable. You are punished less for indiscretions of the right foot.

But the best part, by far is the sound. Not just that it is roaring and raw, but that as the engine makes its way into the redline the sound changes completely. From a harmonious soaring rev, to a much more savage tone. It almost sounds as if the engine is edging closer and closer to its own event-horizon. which makes gear changes simple... when it sounds like the engine is going to become a black hole, you shift up. :)

I dunnno for me a car has to be more than just fast, and on that note the 787B delivers.

(if I had to do it over again I wouldn't buy the 908, I'd go for the 787 then the R8-01)

hahaa wow. beautiful description :) +1 for the 787B over others :D

can you provide a fullscreen also? Im a bit disoriented and not at home, so i cant check.
Could be oil temp in farenheit, pressure for turbos (obiously not in bar but maybe another uom).
Cant be G-force at least as the numbers are to high.

I thought it was a triple rotor? But yes, the 787B is amazing. 👍

I believe the Mazda 787 used the 3 rotor, the 787B was upgraded to the R26B which is a 4-rotor 3 spark plugs per rotor motor, dyno tuned to over 800 horsepower, but limited to 700HP for reliability.

The engine and drivetrain was so reliable in fact that in the ledgendary Le Mans win, the Renown Mazda team told 2 of the cars to drive conservatively. But let one car (the number 55 787b) drive as hard as they could. They were told to pretend that it was a sprint race not a 24 hour. This car being driven balls-to-the-wall for 24 hours had no breakages and went on to win after the leading Sauber C11's tore up their transmissions from pushing hard!

Such a briliant piece of car racing history, I love Le Mans.

Here is the requested full screen shot. The upper one seems to change constantly from 0-100.

The lower one seems to count down slowly but not in uniform timing from 99-0. No relation to fuel, boost, tire condition, very weird.
