I'm building a 2013 Shelby GT 500 replica out of a '07 Mustang to get the correct weight distribution of 57/43 the weight is 1667kg 80kg lighter than it should be 1747kg but the best I can get is 60/40 1747kg Does 80k lighter make a difference on the track? I know weight distribution does.

should it be 80kg lighter for the correct balance 57/43 1667kg
or correct weight with the wrong balance 60/40 1747kg

What would you do?

I wouldn't really know, but I would say correct weight. But you might want to wait until someone else comes around.

So you can't change the ballast position?
If you can then just change it, if not, then you're going to have to end up with a wonky ratio, because 80kg is a big deal.

Can you change the ballast position in GT5?

I just noticed it yep here is my findings

0-60 5.8 1/4 14.4 1667kg 60/40
0-60 6.0 1/4 14.6 1747kg 57/43

testing handling now on the ring

You can, but it has its limits.

But I agree, add the extra weight at the sacrafice of the balance... 80kg moreorless amounts to an extra passenger in terms of weight. That is a lot. Also, Motor Trend has the weight at 1756kg, as opposed to what Edmunds shows (1747kg). As such, I think you can strike a compromise here... the lower weight of the two with the 60/40 split.

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw your post above :)

 I don't even have the game, or a PS3.
You're not aligned with the "other people", are you? If so we may have to grab our torches and pitchforks ;)

Don't worry, everything I said will carry over to GT5, the physics stay the same.

And to everyone else....Haha! I get actual V8 sounds! *runs*
