OK so I'm trying to do the nurburgring 4hr in a peugeot 908. I have to pit every 2 laps because the tires are gone completely at the rear. Even with racing meds it still spins me with full condition tires. Is this normal? I'm using RKM's tune.

Let off your girlfriend and call the car Christine, if that doesn't work try switching traction control on to a mild setting.

yes I hard TC on 5, will try racing hards on next pit stop. Although, apparently all the racing tires have the same condition deterioration rate, and are based purely on the grip they provide I.E racing softs have the most grip and last the same length of time as racing hards

908 seems a bit like overkill, considering the competition in this race. What if you detune it? Maybe it becomes kinder to its tyres with less power?

It can do four laps with Racing Softs, admittedly none of those laps can be driven at full tilt but still. Even with a high RPM turbo kit to add to the mix. It takes smooth driving, using higher gears than you might think and either a healthy dose of TCS or a lot of throttle feathering. TCS 5 should be plenty enough though.

My tune was completely different from the RKM one though and may have played a part. You can have it but only tomorrow.

UPDATE: the racing hards gave me less grip, slower lap times and gave me the same distance as the racing meds (2 laps)

I see what you mean but I think I might just cope with the damn thing and finish the race. Thanks for the advice though :)

Detuning the Power to 50-75% helps maybe for tyre life but this car is still an overkill with 50% of the power.

I've done this race a few times in my quest to reach L40 (not doing the 24 hour races until you can save mid race), last time in the premium Civic saloon on racing meds. True, it was tuned, but to about 420 pp (I think) but the front tyres were shot at the end of lap 3. I have noticed that the AI tried to make its tyres last too long, sometimes 6 laps and the last lap is nearly always a stinker, as they slither about the place. This will provide an opportunity to win, even in a slower car.

OMG!!! NO WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I had no idea. It has to be something wrong with how they did it. There always used to be a variation of deterioration for each individual tire. What's wrong with this world?

Yea, I bet making the gears longer would help. It really, really should.

I'd use a manual transmission and short shift.
It kills the tire spin, and gives you more control in the corners than tc does.

^ What he said, shifting at around 6000rpm helps, and being a diesel, it has plenty of torque even at low revs, meaning you can exit 2nd gear corners in 3rd or higher;)

Slow down 4hr is 4hr. 2 bulls standing on a hill overlooking a heard of cows. Little bull says " let's run down and *** 1 of those cows". Big bull says " No let's walk down SMOOTH and **** them ALL".
