I have 2 packages, want your thought about it :)

Either I will go with the GT3 RS V2
Package 1
http://image.bayimg.com/gadlmaadi.jpg
300 euros

Or the 911 Carrera
Package 2
http://image.bayimg.com/hadlaaadi.jpg
200 euros

Or the G27
300+ euros

Now, I was set on the 911 Carrera, but after I realised I could get the same stuff but with the GT3 RS wheel instead for another 100 euros I'm not so sure.

This is of course compared to the G27 which also runs at aprox. 300 euros, maybe a little more.
The thing that's probably better with the G27 is the pedals which seems really nice (can't afford the Clubsport Pedals).

So it comes down to HOW much nicer the GT3 RS V2 wheel itself than the G27.

The GT3 RS wheel is not "nicer", it's different.

The G27 wheel is a thinner, harder, leather wrapped wheel that feels more custom & sporty & more appropriate for driving race cars & vintage cars IMO. It has strong but somewhat "notchy" feeling FFB.

The GT3 wheel is a little larger, thicker, suede wrapped wheel, that feels plusher, more like a real road car wheel & therefore appropriate for driving virtual road cars. It has smoother, more realistic feeling FFB, but because of that, it turns slower than a Logitech wheel.

I've never tried the standard Fanatec pedals, so I can't comment on those.

Either way you will be happy - there is no "correct" answer.

Hi,
im seeing the same scenario for me here. I want to improve from my current Wheel and im not to sure for which i should go.
The Thrustmaster 500 is just a tad to expensive - Quality etc. is all perfectly fine, but 500 € for a "joystick" is to much.

Now im also deciding between the GT3 RS V2 and the G27 (or any alternative up to their prices with a simmilar quality):
I saw a couple of "quality issues" with the G27 (parts breaking away in the steering wheel chasis after heavy usage)
-> Any positive or negative comments on that ?

Also negative feedback to the Porsche Wheel would be good. I saw none and thats a bit strange. Even a Ferrari has its drawback...
(I have quite big hands, so the thickness of the Porsche one is fine for me i guess.)

As Biggles stated "It has smoother, more realistic feeling FFB, but because of that, it turns slower than a Logitech wheel."
-> Are you reffering to this kind of feeling that the wheel is attached to the FFB with some sort of cog wheel (where you feel the cog wheel turning on its track inside the wheel mount)?

Thanks in advance!

You've got a great lineup there, no losers really. You just need to decide what you want to spend for the features you want/need. I went with the G27 because I liked the shifter and the mounting solutions better, and those were the features that really mattered to me. I think that 911 Carrera wheel is a heck of a buy tho.

Hi There,

I have a GT3RS v2 for a couple of days now, with the clubsport pedals . Coming from a G25 , which to my opinion is comparable to a G27 I would have to say this.
Main advantage of the GT3RS is the possiblility to save 5 steering wheel settings , or use the game settings.
With the G25 you can only use the settings set up in the menu.

Grtz

In the end, what I need to know, as a "amateur" (meaning I got up to IC-9 golds with a DS3) wouldn't the 911 Carrera be a GREAT upgrade from the DS3?
Just feels like alot to be spending 300 euros on a wheel that I might play 1 hour a day (maybe I'll up it after getting the wheel?).

Don't be surprised at first you will do worst with a wheel than a controller but with time you will improve. I agree 300 euros is a lot unless you are heavy into sim racing so I think Carrera is a good choice for you. I just hope you don't have to wait too long to get all your stuff and they all work. You may not get everything shipped together if Fanatec is short on items. I know in USA they are out of shifters.

Carrera shifter is a pack in, so if you order a Carrera, you'll get a shifter.

It's all preference! I've owned Carerra setup and G27 (and DFGT) I agree with biggles, but the G27 pedals are way better then the Carrera's.

I sold my Carerra setup for the G27 and haven't looked back ...it's exactly what I was looking for...just took me testing 3 wheels to figure it out :)

Good luck - as stated you really can't go wrong!

I'm not sure what you mean by this. The Logitech wheels all have a kind of "notchy" feel to the FFB (yes kind of like a cog wheel), whereas the GT3 RS wheel delivers smooth, more continuous FFB. In that way, it is more "realistic" than the Logitech wheels. However, I am not sure how the Carrera wheel is, as it has different mechanics compared to the GT3.

One of the things that I love about F1CE is the very rough rattling FFB you get driving over "bumps" in the track at speed. This effect is very reduced with the GT3 wheel. So the notchy feel of the Logitech wheels (which, from what I understand, is somewhat reduced in the G27) is not necessarily a negative.

ANY of these wheels represents a huge step up from playing with a pad, so if you are a dedicated sim-racer - ie you play (more or less) every day - it's a very worthwhile investment.

The G27 has a finer tooth gear than the other Logitech wheels, so in general you get smoother, quieter operation, but you do get a rougher ride over terrain. It feels immediate... and that's good in a gaming situatuion.

As for your last statement, so agree! Although I will say even if you're a casual gamer, having a racing wheel adds SO MUCH to your racing games. Yes, it'll take a second to adjust and tweak it... but once it's dialed in, you have a game the way it's meant to to played, and that's fantastic.

thank you both for the updates!
I was asking the question because my neighbour has some older Logitech Wheel where it feels (hard to describe) like the feedback is regulated with a tooth gear (i googled "cog wheel" - in german its "Zahnrad") the * thing which rolls over lots of ^^^^ :P ). I did not like this soo much.

Now my GF gifted me a "low cost" wheel with pedals for christmas. This one has "rubberbands" for FFB and i like the smoothness a bit more... Thats why i was more oriented in the direction of the porsche one :)

As i played through GT5 to 95% i started to love driving with a wheel (to copy your statement from above). I only touch the Pad for "Bobby business".

However hardest issue right now is finding a shop which has an example of either the G27 or the GT3 so i can take my final decision.
(Read: Damn Capitalism made shop rentals so high that noone is going to exhibit something anymore and im not the guy who likes to order on the inet and send it back in case i dont like it).

Well, the GT3 only sells online, so that's going to be tough, but you might find a Logitech in store for demo.

Get that GT3 RS V2 wheel, Clubsport Aluminium Paddles and standard pedals.

When you get more money buy Clubsport Pedals and at the end of this year buy Clubsport Shifter.

I have 911 Carrera set and I can tell you for sure 2 things:
1. Wheel is not much better than DF GT.
2. Shifter quality is not impressive.

correct, wrote them an email and they stated that they dont have any shops selling their products :(
However they are located in Germany, so i can always drive to their place to "clarify serious issues"
However, going to order online NOW :)

Now, since they don't have the 911 Carrera anymore I was thinking JUST his.
GT3 RS V2 + Standard Pedals + Shifter.
BUT, can anyone remember the price of the GT3 RS V2 + Clubsport Pedals combo?
Cause I don't wanna buy this combo and then realise I could have gotten the Clubsport Pedals instead

Posted this in the other thread too if it looks familiar, but I think it'll help you in you're thread so I'll post again!

MuRRe, I if was you I'd get the Carrera, I think you'll like it and it price is right... BUT... if you're gonna get the Carrera, do so because it's a great wheel at a smoking price, not because it's better than wheels that cost twice as much, because it's probably not. However, if I was in the "under $200" wheel market RIGHT NOW it's the only one I'd get, because I don't like the lack of a clutch and separate shifter on the DFGT. And remember you can always upgrade the Fanatec standard stuff later, and that's pretty cool.

If you've decided to spend more, then yeah, go for the GT3RSv2 with all the Clubsport stuff, then just use paddle shifters until the CS Shifter hits, like I said before, Fanatec standard stuff is okay, but not "paying an extra $100 for" okay.

I guess I'll just to have to wait for the Clubsport Edition :(

I wanted to order the Combo also (as they advertise it), but they are only selling the single parts at the moment (got some email exchange with their sales).
I took the GT3 and the Alu Pedals and (including shipping for 12€) my bill reads €389,90. I dont think you will save much with the combo though (at least not in Ger).

Hi There,

I've got the GT RS3 V2 CE package for 319 euro's. Ordered mid december 2010.
The CS pedals are awesome, and te wheel gives me that real life feel that I missed slightly in the G25.

Yeah, exactly, they added 60 euros which is BS :(
You guys in the US who got the GT3 RS or one of the other wheels, what kind of adapter is it?
I was thinking of ordering from US instead (the swedish krona is so strong right now) but we have different wall socket here.
Maybe I can just get a replacement or is there "block" between the wheel and wall socket?!

Also, I would LOVE if someone could tell me how big package the wheel and pedals come in, do they come in seperate packages? How much does it weigh?

Two Big Packs (have no exact meassures) at 6.30 Kg each. Do yourself a favour, dont think about Airmail^^

Just to finalize:
Got it now. Its a ****ing blast. I have some sore muscles and my tendon sheath hurts a bit also :)
Quality is very nice and you can configure every bit of it (radius, ff, shock, abs etc ... pp)

The only (not really crucial) downsides so far:
The tuning menu in the wheel has lets say 10 options (and you can save 5 setups). The Handbook only describes 3 of them. If someone has an info what the others are... please reply :)
The pedals are to soft (they are adjustable though and prob. soft due to transport security. some Homework for me here)
There is no handbook for the pedals (adjust strenght, abs sensor ...)
The standard "clip/clamp" for mounting on a table is to well designed to be practical. They should have sticked with a clamp which applies the pressure vertically from below. This one is tightened on the wheel side. and applies pressure from below (like the back of office seats) - As i had an accident in a race, the shock and FFB came in so hard, that my wheel lost traction xDD
The wheel is meant to be mounted on a ****ing anti-tank obstacle :P

When did you order your package? When did the package deal end, because it is a lot more exp piecing it together... doesn't make any sense because they have everything in stock to make this a package.
