Just trying to get everyones opinion on this car.

I bought it from the Dodge show room the other day in the classics section. The car drives fine in it's stock form. I don't have a problem with it.

I entered it into the American Car champion ship and realized that it's too slow against those cars so I decide to supe it up.

Spent a load of money on it. Full suspension, Full drive train, 900 hp, rollcage and all weight reductions.. etc..

Let me know if anyone else is having this problem. Goes fast as stink to 300 KM/h (I changed to km/h since I'm in Canada) perhaps that might be my problem. but I doubt it.

The car, refuses to stop from a straight after hitting 300+ km/h. So I added Racing brakes + brake controller jacked to 24 front and 24 back, and on top of that.. R4 racing tires. It just skidds in a straight line, tires chirping as if the car has ABS.

Stopping from speeds much lower are not that much of a problem, it it can be improved.

Anyone having stopping problems with this car?

You should put your brake controller setting around 13/15 in the front and the back. Also, you need to learn how to brake... you need to push gradually on the pedal so it would bring the car to a stop...

Once you are over that, you can look at the camber and toe adjustement of your suspension, that will play in the balance for braking...

hope that helps

You problem started when you removed all that weight. Try adding a weight ballast on the front, and vary the weight until you find a good setting. It should help you to a certain extent, but once you get the cash I would suggest getting another Viper and not doing the weight reduction.

With cars such as that i tend to tap the brake on and off very quickly, stops the skidding and slows you down. The first tap is never full brake. as Phil said gradually apply the brake.

:dopey: LMAO, na i'm full of ****, I don't really know what I am on about.

Reduce the brake strength, 24 will just make it want to skid especially when you hit them hard.

Most brakes don't work well after about 6/6 on the balance controller. I do have a few cars running 8/8, but not many. If you listen when you hit the brakes hard, you'll know your setting is too high if you hear the brake pads skipping.

Im not trying to be funny here, but do people expect cars to handle perfectly when they over tune them? a dodge viper already has huge power upping this too 900 is always going to give you problems in handling, sometimes sticking in the highest NA tune/turbo isnt the best way to get the car to perform infact you can totally ruin a well balanced car

Yeah, I found my fully loaded Zonda was way way too fast for its brakes. Even with careful tuning it couldn't stop effectively so I put on the stage 2 NA tuning. Akak has a good point though, you're giving these cars, which are already stressed with the power they have another 300 hp which puts them around the hp figures of LMP racecars, but without the brakes, aerodynamics and low weight.

Somethings that helped me when improving braking for high power cars. Make sure you suspension isn't bottoming out when you brake (don't slam it and have soft springs). Set the front brakes as high as you can without skidding and the rear brakes to 1 or 2 notches lower. This improves stability. Since the car is FR already it should have a good amount of weight over the front wheels already but a wing will helpout. Put the limited slip up high enough so you can maintain stability but still low enough to allow some movement in the rear wheels if you have to turn in while braking.

lol, short not helpfull, but its the truth. 👍 :) 24 sounds pretty damn high. Most i've ever used sofar is 15 and with most cars I only use 9 for the front and rear unless i feel like the car just isnt breaking to its full potential..

take the time to tune your car. Some cars require a lot of suspension, gearing, and LSD tuning to get good response and optimum usage of the tires. Plus its fun to tune a car is crappy and make it have good response and handling/

But all the tuning in the world cant replace good driving skill.
