I know this is not a "new" thing and if the thread gets locked, it does not matter.

It seems so many posts on here are moans or complaints but we sometimes forget what it would be like if this forum did not exist...

I am an "amateur" driver who works hard, has a social life and gets a bit of GT5 time squeezed in between. So I am afraid I have been a lurker rather than a poster here, largely because I have nothing new and incisive to add, generally because the forum is so comprehensive...

And I just wanted to say, personally, how much this forum has helped me with all the tips on car tuning, race tips for Seasonal Events, those exciting waits for every tantalising patch/update/DLC release since the game came out, and so on. So much so that my GT5 friends refer to me as "The Oracle"

So, to all the people who work so hard on this forum (Jordan and all his team) and all those who contribute, post and make this forum such a success, I just wanted to say....

THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!

And to PD who, despite its many flaws (some of which are being fixed bit by bit), still managed to turn out another VERY addictive and exciting driving game and continue to support it to date

OK, I think that is all... Move along to the next thread...

To be honest these forums seem to be a much more positive, constructive kinda place than they were about 6 months ago. There were some trolly types back then and beyond, who perhaps realised how pointless it was bashing a game in forums dedicated to that game, and moved on. The crowd here now seems pretty good, my karma says yay =)

I think it's because the game was still relatively new. Now it's been out for 15 months (???) and most of those types have probably moved onto another game.

I knew the game had problems and I was pretty disappointed when it first came out (no G27 support, lots of bugs, etc.), so I took a LLOONNGG break from it (April - January) and it's a lot better now than it was then. There are still some issues (i.e. my level 26 Bobs somehow managed to finish 5th in the Grand Valley 300 km endurance race overnight in a Ferrari F40. How does that even happen? Ferrari F40 vs. RX-7s, 350Zs, WRXs, Evos, Supras, etc. should be no contest. There wasn't even an NSX in the field!) and quirks, but the game is much more enjoyable now, IMO.

To the o.p : well put, agreed, been coming on here since started drifting when gt4 came out, don't often have much useful to say so don't say much - just look at this stellar post for example - but thanks to all involved for keeping gtplanet going.

Thanks for the kind words, sirjim.

Yeah, the crowd does tend to get a bit more pleasant as most of the mainstream "gamers" with shorter attention spans move on to other titles, offering GT's mature and reasonable "real fans" with a bit more breathing room here.

Great post sirjim! I agree with you on the good job GTPlanet has done. It has helped me a ton over the past year. I've "met" quite a few awesome people via the racing series forum and grew on to organize and start my own racing series. Thank you GTP

I was much like you sirjim, lurking around and reading. Good thing GTP isn't a library because we may have been asked to leave lol. There is a ton of info on this site. If there's something you want to know about Gran Turismo, its either here or someone here knows where to find it.

It's nice to read something like this! It's great when people are willing to share kind words, it's a nice break.

Count me too, very well said:tup:

I came here back when I was 12 to get some tips on how to drift in GT4. I've stayed the next five years because the community is literally unmatched in terms of quality, and the quality of the staff I've never seen since.

What a pleasure to read a thread without the bashers. Great OP for a great game.

I agree, GTPlanet is much more than a gaming website for me. I have made friends and it feels like a community. Congratulations to Jordan and all of the staff for making and maintaining such a fantastic website.

There are reasonable "real fans" that complain about the game and many of them are long time members here with great arguments and complaints. The funny and ironic thing is they are mods as well as normal users but provide great info on the game that may have helped people like the OP. The forum is dedicated to fan of GT as a whole not the single rendition that is currently played. I'm glad the OP found usefulness here, but I find it disappointing that some users still believe that all of us that constructively criticize GT5 are trolls because we don't see the dogmatic principles of it.

Anyways I wish the OP good luck and much more fun with this game and other GT games down the road.

I agree, GTPlanet is the best forum I've been to on the web. 👍

Gentleman

I read with great interest the support and kind words you give.

Makes me happy not to own an xbox!

Keep up the good work guys.

You have me coming back time and time again.

Regards

This is my go-to site for all news and tips regarding GT5. Jordan and the rest have done a remarkable job putting this place together, and it really does feel like a community. Look at threads where someone is having trouble; you won't find bashing. Perhaps a bit of light-hearted ribbing, but mostly you get people trying to help, whether it be with car suggestions, tuning tips, etc.

Every time I've been stumped in the game, the crew and the gang here helped me figure it out. For all that and more, a hearty "Thank you, GTPlanet!"

I agree

I'd like to echo sirjim73s sentiments. I may not think GT5's the greatest driving game, but the work this community puts into supporting the game is second to none.
So a great big thanks.👍👍👍👍

It's very nice to read something like this. GTPlanet isn't just a place to get information on the GT series, it's a community of people who help each other and are all around friendly people. It makes me glad to be part of the GTPlanet community because there really is, nothing like it.

Wise words, sirjim. I have been loitering around here since the heady days of GT4, but much more so since the release of GT5. More a reader than a poster, yet I'm on here pretty much everyday. Great source of information, and always something to make me laugh... Keep it up y'all.

GTPlanet is probably the biggest Gran Turismo fansite in the world (may I say this actually?). I think that there are some Polyphony Digital employees around here and have an account also. We just don't know who it is, because there are daily over 1000 members & guests who are visiting this forum and are posting a comment every 10 seconds :p. How friendly people here are is also incredible. Of course there are also a few trolls around. But this doesn't alienate us to answer friendly and avoid to use the F-word. :D You have here so many guides about the GT world, that PD might (hopefully) admit GTPlanet as a partner in the future.

While many planets in our universe do not have any life, GTPlanet is a planet full of life.
GTPlanet is a living planet.

GTPlanet is probably the biggest Gran Turismo fansite in the world (may I say this actually?).

More than that - GTPlanet is the largest website of any kind dedicated to a single game franchise on a single platform...
