A cheapske's guide to GT5!

First off, it’s done with Update 1.09 installed! And I did this mostly because I was bored without PSN! Rules are simple, try to get through the game without upgrades, oil changes and car purchases! And no, before you ask, I don't have a steering wheel! I am cheap like that!

Day 1:

Bought a Honda beat ’91 from the UCD for 6,993 Credits, and I Didn’t do an oil change, because it’s against the Cheapske rules! Did the first race in Sunday cup on Autumn Ring mini finished third, just enough points to get to lv 1. Received the go-kart ticket and did the go-kart challenge (beg.) and won a car horn. Bummer, because I never use Car horns anyway! Did the NASCAR challenge (beg), Top gear TT (beg.) and the AMG driving academy (beg.), but I still won nothing really that great. So, I took a soda break. After that break, I did the Top gear TT (inter.) and after around 10 tries I Won the Elise type 72. Then I completed the Go-kart challenge (inter.) and acquired a satin sliver metallic paint chip. Finally, I Did the nascar challenge (inter.) and my A-spec level at end of Part 1 is lv 12, and I have around 800,000 Cr.

Day 2:

I first did the AMG driving academy (Inter.) and won a Mercedes 190E 2.5 afterwards, but I eventually gave up trying to get the CLK-GTR for the all gold prize! But then again, I just needed one more gold medal to get it! Finally, I Did the grand tour, three bronzes and two golds, and the loeb rally challenge with all gold medals (won three citroens, c3, c4 and c4 wrc!) At the end of part 2, my A-spec level was at lv 17, and I had over 1.5 million CR.

Part 3:

Did the go-kart challenge (adv.), won a paint chip, and finally managed to try the 190E at the Autumn ring Mini, it was hard to handle without driving aids, except ABS, rear end kicks out too easy for me! But still won the race by like 3 seconds! Afterwards, I switched to the C4 WRC, and finished off the rest of the Sunday cup. Won a Vitz for finishing this event. As of now, I been working on getting the CLK-GTR race car, because I was so close to getting gold on the final one-lap challenge in Inter. AMG driving academy, I just need to reduce my lap time by 2 seconds or more.

More to come. . .

Are you sure that Honda Beat will appear in Day 1?
It seems that UCD car list is completely random....

And license tests could provide cheaper alternative than buying cars.

You need to buy a car before you can do any races, licences or events.

I agree that there is a cheaper start point however.

purchase the go-kart for 5000Cr. You can then do license tests to get you to level 1.

Also, once you have a suitable car for the Sunday Cup, hire a B-Spec driver. It's free and he'll start winning you more cars and money.

It is possible to complete the game without buying any cars at all (all cars can either be won, or obtained through a car ticket), excepting trophies, however this would involve first playing on your birthday, and logged into PSN.

In my particular UCD car inventory at the start, it was there. And speaking of license tests, I was thinking of doing all of them in the next update or two, anyway because I want to get them out of the way!

And regards, to starting with the go-kart at the beginning, yeah, it's obvious that it's cheaper but when you reach lv1 a-spec, you will win a free go-kart ticket anyway.

Finally, In terms of doing b-spec, I will do it in further updates, but I don't know when it will start and my birthday was in late-Feburary, so I already past it by a long ways.

This would require a gazillion save/reload operations in order to get via tickets/bdays the cars you can't win.
