1. In the UK roughly how much would a second hand 1979/1980 Jaguar XJS cost? I heard Top Gear got one for next to nothing although I'm guessing it was basically a wreck.

2. What does everybody think of the X-Type? is it a good modern equivalent of the E-Type or is it just a ordinary Jaguar with a cool letter as part of it's name?

No the X-Type is not an E-type equivalent, it's a smaller saloon car that's all. The nearest equivalent to a modern E-type is the XK.

Everyone knows what I think of the X-type, and it isn't good. You're better off with a Saab 9-3, IMO, it is that bad. For the money, the better cars are going to be the BMW 3-series (sporty, awesome), Infiniti G35 (sexy, fast), or Cadillac CTS 3.6 (cheap, balanced). They are all far superior cars, especially the new 3-series.
