After trouncing a friend on two-player mode at the weekend, we put the slow-car boost on, and of course had a bit of a tighter race, but my mate seemed to think that the speed boost made the car very difficult to control and less realistic, so he switched it off and asked me to park up so he could catch up and start racing again...

So I got to thinking that a nice touch would be, instead of parking up, or using the slow car boost, what about bringing out a safety car to allow your opponent to close the gap in a more realistic manner?

I thought that this would be really cool at first, but then thought that this might be the dumbest idea I've ever had, but there is no accounting for taste.. :odd:

Speaking of safety cars, though, I'd like to see the F1 Mercedes Safety Car in GT4, and would be fun to start an F1 race behind one in bad weather...

For the purpose of letting someone else catch up is alright, but it could be annoying to some players. With all the cars in the GT series being indestructible, I don't think we need to worry much about safety though.

There is a pace car Skyline GTR in GTC, but you can only drive it by having a sharkport/xport...:(

You know you CAN actually pass that thing... :D

People have been known to use it in the same way they'd use a normal AI car - as a brake block or a barrier to rub up the inside of - for better times...!

Some Pace Car :D

Not such a dumb idea actualy. Here in the UK they used to (or still do) have a touring car race held at the end of the season called the TOCA touring car cup or something anyhow after a certain number of laps a pace car would come out at the front and whoever was running last is out of the race and then back to racing a lap later then a few laps later the same again untill about half the backmarkers are gone and then it was a 10 lap or so sprint to the finish. All this made sure the race was close run no matter what like I said I'm not sure if they still run this race its been a few years since I saw it.
And then Mansell drove into a wall.:p

Where Mansell put it in was he driving the Mondeo at the time?
If so i have that crash on a Havoc video

Yep that was the race at Donnington Park, he lost it coming out of the old hairpin then Tiff Needel from (from 5th gear) hit him from behind he blamed Tiff.

What a tart:D
