Have been playing gt5 casually sense release date buh now have been playin it alot the past month and every one a drive with got a wheel for Christmas so am feelin left so a looked for a high duty wheel what will last just a few questions like what happiens if you keep the clutch down and revin while using the shift look a like r8 and where can a get a hold of a stand in the uk don't really fancy paying £40 airfair from Texas to the uk and can anyone give me some info on this wheel who uses it what's it like to drive with compered to wheels like the g27 ? can you really tell with different wheels ( you get what you pay for ) hopefully this post made sense yes I am new to this fourm

Hi, checkout the uber Thrustmaster thread for more info.

Wheelstands that can work with it is the Wheelstand pro-UK or Fanatec Renssport wheel stand v2. The Fanatec stand can support the pedals in inverted mode or f1. The WSP one only supports f1 mode but it bolts it down.

It's kind of a toss up between the two stands. Fanatec one is cheaper but the WSP has the quick release clamps.

Wish I could take the Fanatec stand and put the quick release clamps on it from the WSP.

Never used a g27 but plenty others have. Most all says it blows that wheel away

The wheel will be up all the time in the spare room so am not bothered about folding it down if that's what you mean by clamps buh cheers for the quick reply

Yeah if you're never going to breakdown the wheelstand (like me) then I might recommend the Fanatec wheelstand. Only thing I'm not sure about is the shifter holder for the TH8. The WSP works for sure (I actually emailed wsp-us to inform them and they were glad to hear). My guess is the Fanatec wheel stand also supports it since it works with the g27 shifter

Yeah that's what I was thinking bout too (Poland). Is that not close to the UK? I need to go study the world map obviously :guilty:

Poland is east of Germany, north of Czechoslovakia.

However, the WSP might be the best option then - as mentioned, it's cheap, sturdy and the delivery shouldn't take more than a few days.

Oh sorry it's been awhile since I've played GT5 seriously like that. Yeah someone else will have to answer stuff like that

It's pretty much instant. You might not have to d/l the new firmware tho. Not sure what these new wheels are loaded with

I have a question too. I might buy a t500 but i need to know if it's reliable. I heard alot of complaints.. :grumpy:

Like everything else the most vocal are those with problems and you don't hear from people who are having zero issue with their wheels.

I just bought mine less than a week ago so my experience is limited.

But so far everything is working as it should: the wheel itself is extremely quiet. Compared to my G25 which makes a lot of noise. And if feels about 200% better than my 3 year old G25 (and maybe 175% better than a new G27:)).

Although I would recommend picking up the Shifter (TH8RS) if you're used to using manual shifter- and from what I can see and feel, the shifter is quite indestructible (but don't quote me on that).

So for the same price as getting a CSR-E (as excellent wheel in its own right), you're getting a great wheel, a decent pedal and the best single unit shifter around. *by single unit I mean one that does H-gated and Sequential

I know Europeans don't consider that close, but for Americans that distance is like being next door.

If you are looking for a stand rather than seat then I definitely recommend using wheelstand pro. Used one for 3 years and loved it. I had the basic logitech one, upgraded to G27 by switching a couple parts and ot handled my T500 fine.

thanks for your response!
I'm new to sim racing, I still need to buy everything! I'm still playing with a DS3...:grumpy:
I'm thinking of buying an Rseat(evo v3) with T500RS+ TH8RS.(929 euro's) :)
But i really want to make sure that the wheel is durable, because I don't work yet. So as a student, I don't have an endless bankaccount
I want to use it for a nice amount of years. (without any problems indeed)

My experience is that if you wheel doesn't present a problem in the first few days- then in all likelihood it will work in its intended lifespan. Of course, how long it'll last will depend on the user.

When I bought my G25 in 2008, I never had an issue until a year later when the gas pedal started becoming sticky. But a quick research on the WWW solves the issue. And forward to 2012, the G25 is still working. Not as good as it was when new but everything still works.

But Logitech has a great reputation of durability. Thrustmaster hasn't got that, unfortunately. I want a wheel that does the job, feels great, is precise and durable! It's mainly for GT5. So having an official wheel can't be bad. I read alot of reviews saying it's way better than the 'G' series and others that have to sell them because of the non stop problems.

My 2 cents..

You're right about Logitech, reliable and the customer support is the best i've ever seen, had the DFP (sold) & G25 which broken once after a full year of use and got a replacement within a week.

Last year (January) I've bought the T500RS and loved the wheel but after 4 months the springs in the gas pedal broke, turned them over because I had a vacation coming.
3weeks later, just before I was gonna send it in, the complete wheel died.
Got a replacement from the store and that one died in less than 3 months.
Thrustmaster e-mail support responded within a day but the store had thrown out the T500 so no replacement this time but got my money back.
The store had to wait over a month to get the replacements on my wheels.

End November last year, after reading good things about Fanatec I ordered the CSR-Elite with Clubsport pedals.
Received the wheel before Christmas but couldn't drive due to a problem with the CSP's.
The support replied in about 48hours and send a new loadcell a week later to fix the problem, to bad it didn't fix it.
I'm still waiting on the next mail from Fanatec-support (8days now) to hear what they'll do to fix my problem.
In the meantime I ordered an adapter because i've still haven't driven my CSR and I'm almost out of my return policy. If there are any troubles with the wheel i'm screwed.

So....It depends on what you want, If you really want reliablity I'd go for Logitech BUT the T500 and the CSR(-Elite) are better wheels and once you've driven them Logitech is a step back from them.

And the reason behind Logitech's reliability lies in the fact that their wheel is a much simpler design- gear driven as oppose to belt etc. The downside to that is that in term of performance, Logitech has fallen far behind the T500RS and Fanatec's newer wheels (edit- sorry for repeating bladezzz's view).

Now that the T500RS is almost a year old, there's a good possiblity that TM has ironed out all the early issues with the wheel/pedal. It's one of the reason why it's sometime good to be a late adopter to a new product- you don't become the tester/guinea pig.

haha, yea, I always wait to buy something new because there's a big chance that there are some 'begin issues'
