This thread is meant to share a structured set of feature suggestions and start a community discussion around expanding GT7’s tuning and street racing content
Hello Polyphony Digital team,

My name is Eduardo, I am a resident of Brazil and a long-time fan of the Gran Turismo franchise. I am writing to share some ideas for updates and new content for Gran Turismo 7, a game I truly enjoy and play regularly.

I believe these suggestions could further enrich the experience, especially for players who appreciate car culture and more diverse racing events.

1. Tuning Culture
My first idea is a group of events called Tuning Culture, divided into three variations, one for each continent represented in the game:

  • America – Muscle Cars Culture
  • Europe – Euro Culture
  • Asia – JDM Culture
These events would focus on modified road cars, with three classes: 700 PP, 800 PP, and 900 PP. Each championship would feature races mainly on circuits from the respective continent, with around 3 races per event, each lasting 10 to 20 minutes, using 4x tire wear and 4x fuel consumption.

The goal is to highlight street tuning culture, a very popular aspect among players that could receive more attention in GT7.

In addition, there could be a final event called World Tuning Culture, bringing together the best-performing cars from each continent’s events. This final championship would feature 30-minute races on iconic tracks such as Nürburgring, Tokyo Expressway, and Interlagos, again with 4x fuel consumption, 4x tire wear, active penalties, and heavy damage, encouraging more realistic overtakes.

2. Alternative Events – Drag Racing
It would be great to have events focused on drag racing, respecting the culture of each region, especially in America, where this racing style is very strong.

These races could take place on Route X, against AI or other players, with options to choose:

  • Standing starts or rolling starts
  • Race distance
In online mode, there could be a system similar to the old Padlock menu, where players challenge each other. While waiting, players could adjust their car setup or watch other races in progress.

3. Rallycross with road and tuned cars
Another idea is to add Rallycross events that also allow road cars and tuned cars, greatly increasing variety.

These races could take place on short European circuits, on dirt or asphalt. Players could choose:

  • Number of laps
  • Joker Lap timing
The Joker Lap would work as a mandatory pit entry. The lobby system could be similar to drag racing, allowing challenges with up to 5 players at the same time, with voting for the number of laps (2, 4, 6, or custom).

4. Street Racing and Touge
In Asia, especially Japan, these modes could be extremely popular.

  • Street Racing: night races on Japanese highways such as Tokyo Expressway, with controlled AI traffic simulating regular drivers. The lobby would allow players to choose race distance, weather (clear or rain), and traffic density.
  • Touge: mountain road battles in point-to-point races (uphill or downhill). Cars would start with approximately 20 meters of distance between each other. At the finish line, the player who managed to close the gap to the car ahead the most would gain the position. The driver starting in P1 would win if no one managed to reduce the distance. These would be single-run races, not multi-lap events.
All the modes above could also include offline versions against AI.

5. More Complete Custom Races
Custom races could be much more engaging if they included cars that currently appear only in specific events, such as Turbo Sportscars.

There could be a menu similar to “Select from Garage,” but allowing players to choose any car in the game, including special and tuned versions, such as Igor Fraga’s Supra MK4 or Hizal’s Subaru.

Another improvement would be the ability to create custom races using full classes (Gr.4, Gr.3, DTM, Rally, etc.), including the option to mix multiple categories in a single event.

Finally, it would be amazing to create custom championships, featuring:

  • Up to 12 tracks
  • A points system
  • Multiple car classes within the same championship
Imagining a championship combining DTM cars, Rally cars, JDM Culture builds, and Gr.4 would be incredibly fun.

6. Special Request for PS4 and Brazilian Cars
I kindly ask that if any of these ideas are implemented, they are also released for the PS4 version, as this is the platform I currently play on.

I would also like to suggest some Brazilian cars that could greatly enrich the game:

  • Chevrolet Chevette DL 1.6 (1991): RWD, very popular in Brazilian tuning culture, often fitted with the Volkswagen AP 2.0 16V engine, with huge tuning potential.
  • Fiat Uno Turbo I.E. (1994): an iconic FWD car in Brazil, well known for its durability and strong presence in tuning projects.
  • Volkswagen Gol G3 GTi 2.0 16V (2000, 2-door): a rare and highly desired version, featuring the legendary AP engine, very memorable in the early 2000s.
  • Chevrolet Opala Stock Car (1980): a historic Brazilian race car, famous for nostalgic and exciting races.
  • Chevrolet S10 Offlimits (2003): a pickup truck that won the Rally dos Sertões in 2005, recently restored by Chevrolet itself.
Thank you very much for your attention and for the continuous excellent work on the Gran Turismo franchise. I hope some of these ideas can contribute to the future of Gran Turismo 7.

Sincerely,
Eduardo
