Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'd like to share a few of my ideas I'd like to see in Gran Turismo.

I wish that in the future Gran Turismo would incorporate realistic damage. Also the cars should remain damaged until you take it to the garage section to repair them. If you happened to be in a severe wreck and the damage exceeds the value of your car, it should be totaled.

The cars resale value should also increase depending on how highly modified it is.

I also think that fuel consumption is a great idea. It wouldn’t matter much in the 2 or 3 lap races but it would be great for the endurance races.

Tire wear should be more realistic and it should be on all the time. Also wouldn’t it be great if you could have a tire blow out at high speeds. It could result in a spectacular crash.

That would be cool. It would be good if parts of your car fell off and get damaged and also some skid marks from the tyres get left on the road surface.

I don't think they will ever have damage in a GT game. I remember reading in a book that the creators of the game didn't want damage. Because it would cost them too much money to go around smashing all the cars that are going to be in the game. They say they can't put damage in without smashing cars first, because it would not be very realistic.

I never though of it that way. I guess they would have to crash cars to get a sense of what would happen to them, and put that information in the video game. I don't think PD will ever put damage in a GT game, either, now that I see it this way.

Don't these car companies have to wreck cars anyway for their saftey tests. I've even see Lamborghini wreck test cars. Now all we need is for the producers of GT to get this type of information. They shouldn't have to wreck a perfectly good car.

This has been discussed a lot on this board and i think the 2 biggest problems is

1. licenses. the manufacturers won't let PD make a game that'll show their cars wrecked.

2. Programming, the PS2 haven't got the power to handle all that data. (2.1 time, it would also delay GT4)

/D

I've heard before that manufacturers don't want PD to show damage on their cars, but i never really understood why (?)

Gtjugend is right. car manufacturers indeed don't wan't to see the "fine" cars get wrecked up! :(
As far as the power of the PS2.....as some of you may alreay have noticed in RACE DRIVER......the consoles can't keep up the normal frame rate so you'll get delays int the movement.
