Hello,

I was wondering about the A.I in the spec 2.0 update and seem to be reading/receiving different information about it.

I know that the A.I was changed for Arcade mode with a meter, but on A Spec, was that changed also? Not with the meter but something else internally?

I forget where specifically I read it (somewhere here in these forums) but is it true that the A.I randomly changes its style/aggressiveness/competitiveness each race in A Spec?

Or is this something old?

It doesn't randomly change style, but things are different.
They still seem to use the hot/cold style from b-spec, which means off the bat they're quite fast being all hotheaded and whatnot, and seem to be a lot more aggressive in overtaking when they're hot. They also don't mind powersliding around corners.

But as soon as they're alone, they drop down into cold and basically just humm along like always, so there's no need to change the level of car you normally use to get a good race.

Also, when being lapped, they're nice and try to move over and away from the racing line.

If you can find a car that'll exactly just keep up with the AI and pit in at the same time for the same length, you'll have a good race on your hands, but short of that, there isn't much change.

I've heard it said before but have never seen any indication in A-Spec races that the AI drives any differently when they are near other cars or on their own, the way they do in B-Spec. If that were the case, any time one of them got on their own they would slow down to a crawl just like in B-Spec and I've never seen that happen. They just go along at whatever pace they go at and hold steady, a 5 second gap will stay a 5 second gap unless one car is slower. They also don't tire or change drivers in endurance races.

EDIT: Can't prove it doesn't happen, just saying I've never seen any indication of it. It's very drastic and noticeable in B-Spec, where no car can ever pull away from the field.

The Spec 2.0 update seems to have increased their willingness to pass one another, but that's the only change outside of Arcade Mode I've noticed. For example, when running the Nürburgring race car seasonal, it seems you are much less likely to see the Toyota 7 hold the lead all the way to the Döttinger Höhe now.

Maybe it is just me but it seems they drive with more intensity while you are behind them in order to keep you back. However, when you get a wheel on them they move and after you pass they don't continue as aggressively as they did when they were in front of you -- you can pull away easily until you reach the next car.

I just did my first race in the new update and I started to wonder how much the AI changed. I wanted to know if they were still immovable bricks that couldn't be wrecked so on the straight I lined up my car perfectly with an AI car and attempted to fishtail him and it worked perfectly!!!

He spun right out, it was so epic lol. As for racing behavior and everything I don't know. It "seemed" more natural but that is just how it "seemed" to me plus I've only done one race...

Also I've noticed that if you smack them from behind they actually put on the brakes instead of just flying off course like they used to.

Yes, I also feel that the a1 has changed for the better. I wasn't sure because the update only referred to arcade level. I have been having some really competitive racing . I am not the best or the fastest driver by far, when compared to most of you guys or girls. But i have rediscovered the fun again because of spec 2. Which is really all that counts.

So, i feel that PD has done a tremendous job, not only with spec 2, but a years worth of improvements and support that is, imo, unmatched in todays "crank out another sequel" industry.
