a Japanese 60gb ps3

Pls forgive me for being a bit off topic here but I have one of these and was wondering if anyone knows if the ps2 games japanese region coding (normally the 60gb plays ps2games but the jp ver has region coding) can be decrypted. I think our ps2 has died and i'd like to be able to play Gt4 now and again.

PS3s are all region-locked for PS1 and, where they can play them, PS2 games, but region-free for PS3 games.

And this is neither a GT5 question nor a GT5 answer. Nor anything to do with GT5. We're also not going to be party to any discussion on how to crack the PS3.
