The list is of all the cars in GT4, but has where you can get them in the game on the end of each car, like this:

AC Cars 427 S/C 1966 New, UK, AC Cars

I'm wondering how to add it to the Wiki? Should I add it to each of the cars seperate links?

Any help and ideas will be appreciated. :)

That would be an excellent addition to the car's unique page. All relevant information to a particular car needs to be on one page, and this would certainly be great to include. It should be fairly easy to do as well, since you already made the list up. Nice work! :)

Before adding to the wiki, I’d recommend improving what’s already there. Perhaps by ensuring there are NTSC and PAL lists (Japanese if you can find it), and by verifying their accuracy at the same time.

Also on the agenda should be devising a GTP wiki formatting guide. This is to ensure some sort of continuity across everything, don’t you think everything should look similar? For example compare the GT2 car list (note that it is NTSC), and the TT bike list, see any differences? See the bulleted lists, or perhaps should they be a numbered list instead? How should the years be written on cars/bikes, ’01, 2001, (2001), (’01)? Article names, should we adhere to the existing Gran Turismo x : xxx format? How are the prize lists to be done, GT3 NA style or with the fashion sense of GT4 PAL?

One thing that I’m mystified at is, why are the car lists suddenly being turned into complete lists of links when no articles exist for the majority of them? Why can’t we simply have links to existing content, not future ramblings? As I see it, unless a strict formatting guide is proposed and enforced, the wiki will turn into a mishmash collection of copy and paste lists. I don’t think this is what Jordan had in mind…

While we’re at it, could the wiki navigation links on the left side be fixed?

I'm thinking, and maybe this requires a complete redoing, but hey, I'm just thinking. If the car list could be done in general, without havign a separate car list for PAL; NTSC or NTSC-J. And in the page the car links to, put where it is available, for example (for GT4):

- Buick GNX 1987: New, America, Buick (Legendary). Available in PAL, NTSC and NTSC-J.
...
- Jaguar XJ-R: Prize Car, 50% completion. Available in PAL (is it available in NTSC-J?, just wondering)

and so on... what do you think?

You're correct, ALPHA, there's quite a few things that need to be cleared up. I think the best way to tackle the problem is with a thread for discussion of standards, and model pages in the Wiki that others can simply use to plug-in their own material. I'll get things started, but of course, it will only be successful if we all pitch in to clean things up. 👍

What links aren't working for you on the left hand side?

Yes, I think they should look similar to each other. It would make things look much better.

I would prefer bulleted. Somehow it just looks more organized to me like that.
How should the years be written on cars/bikes, ’01, 2001, (2001), (’01)?
I think ('01). I would have said without brackets, but looking at it in brackets now it is easier to read what year it is from.

I prefer the GT4 PAL style.

Agreed. I've noticed that too.

Seems like a good idea. It would save people going through list after list trying to find out the differences between each version.

There needs to be the separate regional lists as car names and stats vary between versions. However, only one page needs to exist for each car whether it be called something different in another version. The car page should list all the changes between the versions, however this is only as I see it.

Hey, of course! With a regular Wiki Clean Up Crew it shouldn't take too long.

Woops :O, didn't realise it'd been fixed! Perhaps you could add a Tourist Trophy link somewhere ;)👍!

I prefer the GT4 PAL style.
Nice, but GT4 doesn’t have to handle multiple random prize car possibilities does it?

True. So they will have to be set out a little differently then, but trying to keep them as similar in layout as possible.

I think we have to concentrate first on 2 different items :
  • car pages
  • track pages
all the rest, like list of prize cars or events can be done later IMO.

And I think we must use models : that would allow us to separate the way pages look from the page content.

And what about cars and tracks that exist in several versions of the game, like the Toyota GT-One or Deep Forest. How should we mention for instance the length of Deep Forest since it has changed between GT3 and GT4.
An option would be to use namespaces, but Jordan didn't create any namespace for that so far.
If so, we could have a page GT3:Deep_Forest and another page GT4:Deep_Forest with different features.

Perhaps we should start with listing what kind of information we want to have on a car or track page.

Car
  • Arcade specs
  • Sim specs
  • pictures
  • real car specs
  • real car history

Track
  • Specs for each different version in the game
  • Real specs
  • Real pics
...

I hope I haven't already overstepped some bounds, but I went through the NA Cars list and added a basic framework to all the pages to help keep it organized while so many people are busy editing.

I plan on filling in as many blanks as I can, but I think for it to be navigable across a broad platform of viewers & users, some basic lines needed to be drawn in. I left 99% of the existing info there, with the exception of the occasional allusion as to my mum's personal preferences, which were of course deleted.

I hope this is agreeable to everyone? :scared:

Oh, and the settings & Reader opinions/reports ections I intended as a space for links to posts in the message boards rather than having all that cluttering up the fact sheets

but as far as links to the settings go, I think it would be a good idea to note what sort of settings they are: grip, drift, top speed, nurburgring etc. I put in all the settings from Ducks list since they were already all nice & tidy in one spot for me to find ;)

ooh, another edit...
as far as the track lists go, some basic setting guidelines may be useful. no specifics of course, there are too many different cars. but perhaps tips like softer suspension & higher ride height for Nurburgring, or higher tranny setting , lower height, higher rear downforce for the test course and so on... just a thought
