Alright, here is the situation. Today I broke down and bought both the Sharkport and VGA adaptor.
problem #1 - it is most likely the vga adaptor itself, now I need to locate another one. I used two different monitors with it and it starts to change colors on the monitor and flickers a lot -(which is probably the Hz on the monitor) and then puts the monitor into sleep mode. Everything else works fine onit. I am using it right now with my main monitor and no problems and the audio works fine.
Any suggestions?

problem #2 - The sharkport is giving me three error messages. first is 'usb error' second is something about save tags. third one I just forget, ok "usb error connecting to PS2'. I am about to reinstall the software here. It worked earlier today and now when I just put my computer on and PS2 on, it doesn't work. I guess that is what I get for using a USB or Under sack & balls device. any help ????

I don't know anything about the sharkport, though I figure it should be easy to use. USB "just works", and the Shark people have been pretty reliable from what I understand. Looks like you just goofed that one up.

The VGA (video graphics adaptor) adaptor ... (:
You're in Orlando. That would be part of the American NTSC zone. I would asume you have an NTSC Playstation 2, which would mean your games are NTSC as well. They will not output to VGA, nore will your PS2 alone. The only supported video options by any games are NTSC via RCA, S-Video, and the various HDTV settings. However, not all games support HDTV either.

I think you're **** outa luck on the VGA stuff. I got one with my Linux kit (which has spacific support for that connector) and the Playstation booting by itself won't output to VGA.

Well, I just picked this up today and heard rumor about it. It is sitting right in front of me. It is an adaptor that plugs into the back of your ps, takes a memory cards slot, kinda like a pcmcia card. and has and input and output of vga, female connectors of course. anbd two speaker input output spots. There really is no way of troubleshooting beyond what I have done, it is a tolerance that is over what the adaptor can handle with the Ps2 - gonna return and get a new one.

Do you have the brand and model? I'm just curious.

A good VGA adapter would be pretty expensive. It would have to have a line doubler and scan rate converter, neither of which are cheap. I'd still buy it. :)

yeah it is by Innovation - it is called 'PS2 Compatible VGA adaptor'. The thing is pretty sweet. It looks like I need to get a replacement though. It does that on the three monitors that I have here.

Just got mine today. I'm quite pleased - the video quality is excellent, especially for a $50 box! The only concern I have is that it gets its power from a memory card slot. I would prefer that it had a separate power adapter. Oh well...
