I'm about to get all golds in Amateur Mode but I'm freakin' stuck on the Audi TT Race!! Namely Rome Circuit. I have all the engine upgrades and stuff, except for the 45,000 turbo upgrade, and (btw- I loath the Audi TT, in real life and the game, so this doesn't help) the darn thing wont go over 110mph!! Once I hit 110 the other cars just breeze by, like it's nothing.

So, I'm asking for some help. Maybe some tuning tips. I'm a pretty good driver so that's not the problem, but unfortunately I don't know enough about cars (when it comes to engines and stuff like that) to tune them up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :) 👍
 
engine mods arent everything you know

buy a full racing tranny and adjust the auto level until its to the point wher you dont top out on the back straight

i also find it extremely helpful to purchase a VCD for the TT as it's natural power distribution is somehwere around 60% front, 40% rear. If you distribute more of the power to the rear wheels, you launch harder, accelerate much faster, and reduce understeer. A VCD is usually the first thing i purchase for the TT.
 
Tank Spanker is certainyl correct. If you've already installed the transmission, you need to open it up a bit. In other words, move the slider more towards the left. This will increase your top end speed, but reduce your acceleration.

The VCD (as TS mentioned) will compliment the transmission adjustment.

Also, Rome is very rewarding when braking early and turning smoothly. Braking early, and coasting for a split second will keep your car stable going into the corner. you'll carry more speed through the corner. This will allow you more speed exiting the corner and reach a higher top speed sooner. The smooth turning will allow you to carry that newly gained speed through the corner.

As an incentive, if you follow that brake easy, you'll often be accelerating before you enter the 90 degree corner.

even a racing flywheel as well, and a clutch, changes gears and accerlates much much quicker 👍. If you still have trouble you can get suspension mods as well.
 
Here is my entry for that race.
Day 132. I take the Audi TT to the tune shop and upgarde it for the Amatuer Audi Tourist Trophy Championship. I add stage 2 turbo, race exhaust, race chip, race intercooler, WR 1&2 and centre differential. Power is 313 bhp.

Race 4. Rome 3 laps
Results.
1st. Black Audi TT. 5'18.110, best lap 1'42.623 10,000 credits
2nd. Silver 5'19.737
3rd. Grey 5'20.502
4th. Blue 5'21.469
5th. Green 5'21.664
6th. Red 5'22.067
Close racing for the first 2 laps, The AI fell away lap 3.

I have not fitted the race transmission and only had 313hp from the stage 2 turbo.
I suggest fitting the Centre Differential will greatly help. Top speed is not your problem. As Der Alta says brake a little bit earlier and you will find your corner exit speeds will be way faster.

I should clarify that AO is referring to the final drive ratio here, not the autoset. If you are using the autoset, you'll need to slide the setting to the right for wider gear spacing and a taller top gear.

Do a search for "tranny trick" and you will also learn how to exploit a small oddity in the way GT3 sets up the transmission ratios.

I will also second his recommendation that you brake earlier.
 
Thanks for the tips guys. I'll try to fit the mods tonight and maybe finish the race tomorrow. I gotta learn these things. It's kind of embarrassing for me not to know much about cars and be a member of a website that's all about cars. But hey, you gotta learn sometime somewhere, right?

Duke is right, I was a mild bit confused. Been a bit too long since I looked at transmission settings.

raptor, don't worry about it. When I came here, I could change the oil in my car and that was about it. Now, over three years later, I bring it to Jiffy lub. I do understand the concepts behind the tuning, and the car reactions, but know very little about the major functions of engines and drivetrains.

My suggestion is that you work on your driving lines, and as you make adjustments, pay attention to the cars attitude and reactions. It'll make you a better driver than worrying about lap times.
