I was wondering if the creator(s) of GTPlanet have asked Gran Turismo to place a mention of this website in the news feed that everyone sees at the start of the game. It struck me that there are probably tens of thousands of people out there that play GT5 but have no idea that this resource exists. I think it would be a win for all interested parties.

As this is an un-official fan site, and not the official gran-turismo.com, I don't think that they will.

Not really. We're a third party website. Sony want to drive traffic towards sites they own and control - like the official PS forums - rather than towards us.

We are useful to them, but they wouldn't advertise us... ever.

I don't think they would randomly say go check this website and just give like 50 million views to anything they don't own. I agree it would help a lot of people but it doesn't really benefit GT5 much.

Well, here's a financial incentive for GT. Imagine all the people who bought GT5 and played through a few levels of ASpec and then moved on to another game because they didn't know how to tune a car or manipulate the aids. Those people will not be spending money on DLC's because there is nothing in it for them. They may not buy GT6 if they can't figure out a way to win more races. This website is an invaluable resource for doing that, and probably the only reason I'm still spending real dollars on the game.

Only way right now to "advertise" is to go about online telling everyone about GTP.

But you'd probably get kicked for doing so. Safest way is to just set greeting and leaving messages to "gtplanet.net".

They'd still only want to force traffic to official sites, not third party ones like ours - no matter how much better we may be.

There's always GTP_ PSNIDs...

Wouldn't it be utterly brilliant if there were a method to find information on the internet, just like in the old days where we had "libraries" with information books in them... so we could just type in questions into our computers, such as "How do I tune XXXX car" and the information would pop up onto our screens. I would even dare to call it something "search" related, possibly even call it a "search engine"... damn, I might even copyright that idea, I'd become rich overnight!

Oh wait... look... it already exists! I can't believe someone beat me to it!

Sarcasm much? :sly:

That and online lobbies with gran turismo planet as the rooms name. 👍

Okay, I took your "suggestion" and did a search for an Infiniti G35 tune. On my iPad, GTPlanet was the seventh hit down, behind Forza. When I opened at up there was very little indication that GTPlanet was a gaming forum dedicated to supporting the Gran Turismo franchise. So much for your "search engine."
Before I retired I spent the last decade of my career as the idea guy in my unit. Lots of naysayers there too. It's easy to throw out a, "it won't work," but not that much harder to give it a try.

You mean other than the GTPlanet.com domain name, GTPlanet logo, breadcrumb with Forums>Games>Gran Turismo 5>GT5 Tuning Forum?

The search engine is not to blame. Your search query was vague (the fact that you got GTPlanet at all is surprising - it's most likely due to Google implementing semantic search) and GTPlanet could do a little bit more for SEO (search engine optimization).

Try searching [gt5 infiniti g35 tune] and you'll get plenty of results in the SERPs.

The point is not how well people steeped in the GTPlanet world can find GTPlanet, it's how easy it is for the average to below-average internet user can find it. There are thousands of casual gamers out there that also use the internet but have no idea what a domain name is.
My original post was simply a request that this site's admins/owners attempt to contact their piers at Gran Turismo and set up a mutually beneficial business arraignment. If they choose not to, at least I tried. Now we can get back to wondering what color to paint our cars.
Sarcasm??

I found gtp on a primitive search engine 11 years ago..

I think it would benefit everyone except Sony and PD, and that's why it won't happen. Maybe if every year there was a fundraiser for PD here it would be different, but that is probably never going to happen. Unless they sold the space to GTP, which also would never happen.

How come we don't make our own news?

For example, why do we not have official blog posts about things GT6 could work on (like this recent recent IGN article )? Or the most wanted cars/tracks?

Forums are fine for discussion but the feedback section is so tiny and likely "unseen" by many.

Why not make our own news instead of waiting for it to emerge?

Its easy enough to reach level 40 and win all races without any tuning or knowledge of what driver aids do. Gran turismo has always had the option to severely outgun the AI.

I am not trying to put down your ideas but anyone who is interested in sticking with the game will find this site if they are struggling, and as Famine said, Sony will almost certainly not direct it's audience away from it's own sites.

Good thinking though, but PD and Sony are fully aware of GTP's existance.👍

I also don't like that the feedback section limits your feedback. It has a lot of problems, but that's just how the world is...I guess...

I googled the phrase "Infiniti G35 tune gt5" and found several tunes, all on GTP, without even specifying GTP, and these were all from the second top search result. :sly:

Google is not supplying you with the same number of hits in the UK as they are in the US. Okay, here is another idea and I'm done. We just got two seasonal events on fictional tracks. They are full of billboards and banners advertising auto related companies. I don't know how much a banner would cost but it would be seen by tens of thousands of people.

👍 this. It's true, though. I originally found GTP by Googling a tune for a 7 Race Car and pressing the "lucky" button.
GTP is the site with the most hits on GT searches here.

This remains the case.

If you google 'Gran Turismo 5'
GTPlanet comes up as the 7th response.

If you google 'Gran Turismo 5 Forum'
GTPlanet comes up as first.

It's not exactly hard to come across XD

I did a couple tests of my own:
Query="Gran Turismo"~GTP listed at #4
Query="GT5"~GTP listed at #4
Query="Ferrari P4 tune GT5"~GTP listed at #1
Query="how do I beat historical race car cup in GT5"~GTP listed at #4
Query="drift tune for cerbera speed 12"~GTP listed at #1

GTP isn't that hard to find. My last query didn't even include GT in the search and GTP still appeared at #1.
