It's really hard to explain, but the way i see it is that tobacco and alcohol sponsors on cars are no more wrong than the inclusion of those particular two cars.

Personally I don't object to alcohol or tobacco sponsoring either but obviously it's banned in most countries and even when it isn't to adults, doing it in a videogame makes that it will be rated for adults only, with all sorts of consequences (mostly sales, there will be a whole market section lost, pure and simple).

And again, I can't see what those VW's have to do with it, they don't market nazism but do simply portray a part of car history or the history of Volkswagen (and history isn't a nice thing most of the time) and PD puts them in another context than the usual role they play in WW2 movies.
Instead of just being a car build for the Nazis and all the associations that brings, GT5 takes these cars out of that context for once and shows them again in a new light, that they can be fun to drive too and can be enjoyed for their engineering alone (whether you appreciate them is another question).
It would be different obviously if they included military vehicles with functioning weapons (not just Nazi ones), these 'Nazi-buggies' are simply a mode of transport.

this also makes me wonder...does Forza 4 Tsukuba circuit have the Gran Turismo banners anywhere around the track? I know they do in real life but not sure if Forza opted to not include that real world banner?

No, MS removes or replaces it with another ad for that billboard.
