A new tree?

I was in a room right now, and I noticed some people were tapping the brakes three times then they would ghost(the rear of ghost car was facing us.)

So after said ghost gets in line another guy ghosts(the front of the car was facing us) and I starting treeing people.

So all in all is this a new way of ghosting(cheating) or were some friends trying to have fun?

I had too add hit send on accident(dang phone.)

Couple months ago we tried this and it was just like going off time.
 
I dont know. But I will say the people that knew what he was doing were treeing me until we got a new ghost.

Its just like a normal tree but alot of people don't like it because its too predictable
exp: said ghost flashes lights 3 times before going ghost.
 
Same as flashing the headlights and turning the wheels, and just as annoying !

Yep, I like someone who ghosts randomly. One time is fast but not to fast the next time is a little longer. That way you can point out the jumpers/L2/R2 users lol;) DS3 R3 all day long:)

I dont think guess, it seemed like they were telling them when to go. As soon as we got a ghost facing us(no light flashing, none of that stuff I was treeing them)

I say it distracting. I've taken off 100+ times early cause of people flashing lights and other stuff find it very distracting) The way I've always raced and the way I prefer is to sit there and wait for the ghost to ghost:dopey:

A lot of people like to guess and then they say tree or sometimes is ghost lag and they say tree.. I really dont believe on tree because this will only be real if you had the tree lights. How would you call it tree if there is no lights? is call guessing ...thats why I always restart race because even the slower car will win if they guess or tree....... :drool::ouch:

i saw some guys doing a method like this on monza way back. they stayed ghost and would hit the brakes randomly 4 times. on the 4th light you would go.

I like that better than the normal way of ghosting. I mean it is easier to cheat the other way
 
People in tunnel drags were using this method 2 years ago and it failed horribly, to many guess launches.

Simple then the answer is they lost that run
 
The problem with trying to replicate a real life tree in-game with flashing lights is there is no penalty for launching early...so many try and get that little edge and jump a fraction of a second. Do that on real life tree and you "red-light" ie. you're disqualified. Best to go off good old fashioned reaction with no anticipation.
 
Well I guess call me a :dunce: But like I said, in all the Honda rooms I've been in, we never ghost that way. We ghost a few times to tell the drivers get ready then when they rev up we let them go. The whole brake light thing just caught me off guard. And because I had never seen that before I found it distracting. Also as I stated once we got a normal tree, him and his buddy started losing.

I agree with Mikey the flashing of the lights causes to much anticipation. Then there is no way of knowing who jumped. Most of the people I run are professional about treeing and we restart. But these kids would just sit there and say your slow. But they get a regular tree and start saying we jumped :boggled:

Now on what L2L said. I think that was a way of cheating the tree. Them two knew what they were doing and caught the whole room off guard! Now if you want to get technical you can cheat a normal tree. You just need a buddy, 2 PS3s, 2TVs and enough bandwidth to support 2 PS3s.
 
ive seen this happen in a few lobbys ive been in. but sometimes the starter wasnt consistent with the brake lights. it didnt seem to work any better or worse than the original way of starting a drag race though
