Yeah I'm pretty sure the pay of six guys is pretty insignificant to anything else in the US budget. They could be paid a million dollars a year, or per car even, and really not matter at this point. With a proposed budget of "$3 Trillion", 1.6 Trillion being all war related matters, and supposing these guys somehow get $10,000,000 altogether, that's 0.0000333% of the US budget.

So, I'd care more if we wanted to cut down on that other 99.999777% of the budget.

I am intensely curious as to why that is relevant to what I said.

Honestly it's a stupid law. If this was pressed all over the news it would create an outrage, why people's money (A good portion too) is being spent paying for a service that, supposedly, tries to protect national security, yet spends it's time seizing cars! Though that's why it's not hitting the media, they want to keep it quiet, so nobody finds out about it.

Because its far and away not a money issue.

Which is why I said it was a waste of resources (time and manpower) of a government agency that has far more important things to do than run around seizing cars to enforce outdated laws.

I also find your "it doesn't do that much, so it isn't worth doing" attitude to be kind of a joke, honestly.

Why not use FEM analysis as for a crash test? The method has been proved in the real world for a long time now. Just make a model of the car but make sure its comprised of many meshes for accurate results. I shall sign now 👍. I have 20k saved, want to purchase a R32 GT-R with it:drool:. But I like them being banned in the U.S for now. Would hate for rich douche bags to buy up all the R34s and ruin them. We can all rant on about the government... TIME TO TAKE ACTION!!!! Vote RON PAUL!!!!! 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And who is going to do that?

The real problem here is people with taste wouldn't want an R34 anyhow. Just sayin'

That aside, if you really want to change something that matters, you should go about changing the laws for being road worthy - would make a much larger difference than trying to change the years, because states could just fiddle with those laws on a local level anyhow.

The thing with trying to change the law on safety and emission regulations on cars would be a never ending war. No matter what you try to change even the smallest of things there would always change something else and make more rules to make it more hard to get the car.

If I had the cash I would :dopey::dopey:. Buy a nvidia tesla server cluster for computing power, a 1999 r34 GT-R in japan, and a laser scanner and i'm good. 👍 Strip the r34, scan every single part to be simulated into the FEM model. Fire up LS dyna or ANSYS and simulate a crash test with ease using my nvidia tesla server units . THIS is the easy way, i'm surprised no one has used it yet, but it is the only way to get these cars certified without a crash test. I've found documents on thesis papers of researchers who have used the FEM method with good results. Its even used in engine development. God... Its used in a plenthora of industries.

What keeps someone from fudging all that data and making an R34 the safest road vehicle ever made?

Another case of political "Crash N' Burn."
Politicians crashing the state, while the people get burned.

MONEY!!!!! BINGO!!!!!!!!!! Give me some now. 👍:dopey:

You're right, it's not just about Skylines.

Give me an FTO or a Stagea any day.

signed.....but i doubt it will change much or anything at all

I just want I to tell everyone that the petition fail to reach 25,000 signatures and was closed. :(

You can always have the engine & transmission sent seperate from the chassis, then it's considered a kit car, at least in North Carolina.

Considering how many import enthusiasts there are in this country, that's pretty sad. It should have been passed around a bit more...
