Hello, I own a GT3RS for a few month, and recently I noticed a small play/flex on my wheel's vertical axis. It's a small play, maybe 1mm but it clearly has some play, now the question is - is this normal for all GT3RS/GT2 wheels?
Does your wheel have some play when you try to wobble the wheel rim while holding it at 15 to 3 position?
I'm posting this here so I can know if I should mail CS or not.

I remember Thomas (the Fanatec CEO) saying it's normal but I don't know where, so I can't post a link.

Thanks man, I believe you.
It's not a problem, it's not noticable while driving, I was just wondering if it's normal.

Stumbled upon it.

It is technically essential that there is some movement because otherwise the wheel gets stuck. The movement can be more or less but it cannot be fully avoided.

If it gets worse and makes noises then it is a different story because this indicates that something gets lose (perhaps a screw?). In such a case we need to have a look at the wheel and repair or exchange it.

When you contact support, please add to your description if the movement gets significantly worse or if it affects gameplay.

Again, a little bit of movement is normal and necessary (many race cars have that as well) but it should not affect your gameplay and should not get worse and noises appear which did not occur before.

In all it's glory. :)

My GT2 has a small amount of movement of the face (side to side, not up and down as it happens), but it is actually the shaft all the way into the mount which has a bit of play.

When the wheel was being repaired for something else (sensor) they also checked the shaft and mounting. Basically as long as the full shaft is solid and the play is at the end of the shaft inside the casing, that's fine.

Hi Fobia - my experience with 2 GT3 wheels has been they come out the box assuredly "solid and tight"; they are very classy. Then, as you say, after a "few months" (3?) that seems to diminish somewhat. I guess, to a degree it's understandable - considering all the movement that's involved, a "little" play in the wheel (over time) could be expected... call it, "run-in" if you will. However it "can" get worse I've found. Their GT2/3 designs do sit quite upright I've noticed, compared to the G27 for example. Do you find you're putting weight on your thumbs a lot? Particularly over long sessions? I did, so I tilted the wheel more towards me with a knocked up mod to relieve the apparent "stress" on the... "horizontal axis" (great you mentioned that!). So far, so good - and it feels much better to drive with now & much more "natural" to boot. :)
