This is my first thread that has the potential to be closed before it goes anywhere.
However, I have this "burning" question.

Those of you who "swear"/use "bad" language...
How is it when the "F-word" is used it can either be the best or the worst thing that happens that day?

I know, stupid question. But my mind is in a weird place today.

George Carlin does a bit on this topic. He thinks that "**** you" should be used when you wish someone good luck, not bad:

"**** you!"
"No, **** you, sir! I insist."

I suppose, from a male point of view, it has to do with whether you're on the giving end or the recieving end. One makes your day; the other...
 
That's true. It's a very versitile word, for those who choose to use it.

I believe it falls into the catagory of the slang usage of "bad". Referance Michael Jackson's song "Bad" if you're not familiar.

Also, I believe Vat Man mentioned a while back, in Australia the term bastard has become oddly used. If someone is a good friend of yours you might say "he's a real bastard", but for someone you dislike you would say "he's a bit of a bastard". Why are your friends more bastard than your enemies? How would you define bastard? At this point there are probably seven different definitions!

In the past I've used http://www.urbandictionary.com to look up what the heck people are trying to say. It got to the point that they were using slang to define slang and I was totally lost.

The hitch to GTP and the word filter, is that GTPlanet is private property that we only gain access to when signing the TOS and AUP. Which state the way Jordan feels this site should be run.

Much like a Mall is private property, that we are allowed to visit.

The likely truth is that someone, maybe high, just yelled it in a moment of exuberance, and it stuck as being negative and positive.

****, is like... the best word ever. When someone says "Hey, **** you!" theres nothing better, you can't come back and say "Oh yea, **** me, uhh... gaylord!'' All you can really say is "yea, **** me" :(

One of my favorite combinations is:

"**** you ya silly cu*t!"

Why don't you go outside and play hide and go **** yourself?

Marvelous word. Unfortunately I can't use it this year due to New Years Resolutions. Blast!

I still think it's funny that if you tell someone to "**** off." It means go away and leave me alone.
But when your lady says "I want you to **** me." She wants you to come (fig. and lit.) to/with her.

OK, since this has dissolved into an immaturity fest instead of a discussion, it gets the Lock of Doom. Through no fault of the originator, might I add.
