Hey there guys, this will just be a quick question regarding a painting decision on a collection of cars I'm working on. I'm building a collection of lightly tuned street cars to run online with friends and drag race, etc. I've decided that all of these cars will be painted Matte White with black rims, but here is where I need the community's opinion.

Will Matte Black or Metallic Black rims look better with the Matte White body? Should I go metallic to contrast the matte or keep the whole car stealth with the matte theme? The decision will be up to the poll.

Hope this isn't too frivolous of a thread :nervous:

(btw Matt Black is a darker shade than Matte Black which is why both optios are there)

Metallic black, but that's just me :)

I'd go with the matte black rims.

Although if it were my choice, I would've gone with metallic white bodies and matte black rims.

I considered that, but matte on rims doesn't show particularly well in game and there is just something sinister about the body being matte. Thanks for the input :)

You should toss up pictures of one of your cars as a example in each finish.

Good point, although I can't do that at this point tonight, I'll try to snap some pictures of the 3 choices tomorrow and post them as an example. Thanks again for all those giving feedback, even if there is a 3 way tie right now

Chrome goes good with Matte, just ask my Matte Dark Blue 1987 R31 sitting on shiny.

Wait, is there even a difference between Matte and Matt? :dunce:

There is no black chrome in game so I'm guessing you mean silver or a polished aliminum look, which does look good, but I'd like to stick with the white on black theme 👍

Indeed there is, at least in the thumbnails. I believe they are different when used. I'll check it out tomorrow.

I voted for metallic black because I've tried matt/matte black rims before and didn't like it cause of the freaky reflections matt/matte black produces. :yuck:

Also there was a thread once clarifying there is no difference between matt black and matte black except the name. :)

Matte black vs matt black, what is the differences ?

Metallic black for me.

Perhaps try matte white with Gunmetal Metallic wheels (from the Premium Lotus Esprit).

Interesting. Well thanks for setting me straight 👍 votes for Matt and Matte will be added up. Thanks guys :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but gunmetal is a dark grey and I'm looking to stick with the white on black. I just am undecided between matte or metallic black. I'll take a look at the gunmetal though 👍

I chose matte black. I love painting cars all matte colors and if the body is matte, the rims must be matte. I don't like having one "not so reflective" surface with a "reflective" surface on the same car. Just my opinion ... I'd rather match tones than colors, if that makes sense.

Yeah I considered the same thing. Matching the finish of the paint could look good but so does the contrast of the matte riding on metallic.

I'm not a big fan of matte black rims - much more with matte grey-ish ones.

voted for metallic.

Yeah the poll looks to be leaning towards metallic and I'm pretty sure that my preference is headed that way too 👍

Metallic. You are flat on the paint so you want the rims to shine to offset the flat. I put silver chrome on a lot of rims of flat or "matte" painted cars.

I like to customize wheels.
Found out that matte wheel are a bit dull.
I prefer metallic wheel to be honest, try Quantum Silver from Aston Martin the color is almost black.
Every Aston Martin colors are nice anyways.

Wouldn't be too noticeable I'd think anyway. Nevertheless I'd go with metallic black. Depends on the car though.

The trend tends to be leaning towards metallic and I must say I agree with the contrast of matte on metallic. Double matte seems as though it will be just too dull. Glad to be getting this much feedback 👍
