Two part question. First part: Should PD get rid of B-spec completely and double the # of events in A spec?

I personally, think the only use of B-spec is "fire & forget" grinding. We have remote races for that.

2nd part: Should which cars that participate in race events (A/B spec) be very tightly controlled by either a HP window or a Performance point window? Or should it not be controlled so you can run a car that will blow away the competition? If that's what you want to do why not limit it to practice mode? Career mode should be a challenge. Limit it but have different AI settings (easy, moderate, hard).

I think so. I'm running a B-spec event where typical opponents have 450HP but I'm using the 1030HP Minolta. No contest.

1. Some people like B-Spec so it would be a bad idea to scrap it.

2. People can control the difficulty for themselves to be honest. I'm sure that there are already people that do this. It's not a bad idea, but some people find it more enjoyable to over-power the competition and get the race done as quickly as possible.

Career mode should be a challenge.

We have online for that.

As long as PD insists on making us play career mode, there should be a blatantly obvious shortcut.

Outside of that, career can be a challenge without making everyone have to go through it a certain way. All races in GT should have very detailed restrictions and AI driving at the max, more or less. However, the restrictions should be optional. If people want to prove how they did A-Spec with restrictions, make a trophy for that. Some people would rather have the odds in their favor, and there's nothing wrong with that. PD can please just about everyone, so no one should be compromising.

That's not how it works. You see, the B-Spec events aren't really a whole set of extra events exactly. All they did was take A-Spec, copy-and-paste it, rename it as "B-Spec", and make a few changes to the number of laps and tire restrictions. Essentially, it's A-Spec but with an AI driver.

What you're suggesting would require a bit more on PD's part than what went into the actual B-Spec. Right now, B-Spec is just a duplicate of A-Spec with the slightest of tweaks and someone else doing the driving. They didn't come up with a totally different set of events for Bob.

I'd prefer it if PD didn't require people to rely even more on online content to sidestep the problems with the game. Particularly not to the extent of removing offline content from the game.

Career mode should be a challenge if you want to make it a challenge. Since PSN went down I've done nothing but use a borrowed X1 in the Dream Car Championship. I have no allusions towards whether I should make the race fair for the AI drivers, because I simply don't care.

And besides, there are many races where the AI field isn't remotely even just among themselves.
