Re-institute a revised and improved A-spec points system from GT4.

This was a great feature which provided a optional difficulty system and a complete explorable game within the game.

Probing the depths of what was achievable, added a tremendous and irresistible challege to GT4, unmatched by any other GT release.

Although, it was somewhat inconsistent, and this needs revision so as to provide a more realistic and comparable experience.

I know this is a dumb question possible, but what's A-Spec points? I never played GT4.

A-spec points were measured by type of car you would drive against your opponents.
Example:
Driving the Formula Championship in GT4 with a Polyphony Formula 1 would give you about 15 to 20
points, while driving a Group C or LMP car would give you about 100 to 130 points for each race.

B-spec: Same thing.

So, the lower your car's PP in a PP-restricted race, the more A-Spec points you get. Am I right?

What were they for anyways? Nothing? If that's the case, then no thank you.

They were to provide a difficulty level system.
And to provide a unknown challenge system as well.
There was no driver level or PP system.

200 A-spec points was the maximum available for any race.
The beauty of it was twofold.
First, it was completely optional.
You could complete all the races, at little or no A-spec points.
Second, in the first few months of the game it was totally unknown, what the maximum achievable point total was for all the races. So it was a complete pioneering effort for a while.
The point total for each race had to be proven out.
This took several months with quite a few players working on it.
It was eventually found out some races you could not achieve 200 pts, and the maximum achievable total for all the races in the game was 111,813.
I finally reached that total in October 2007, with a 100% win ratio as well.(thats why it took me so long)
I think I can honestly say, its the most fun I ever had playing a video game.
At times the most frustrating as well.

I always thought there should have been some special award or recognition in GT4, since it was so difficult to achieve.
If it were part of a GT game again in the future, that should be added.

The 200pt A-spec thread in the GT4 forum here at GTP, chronicled the whole process, back in the day.
