Click your profile picture, Top left corner of GT life, a window opens look along the botton and there is a suitcase i think click that to change suits and helmets.
Bumping this, and a thanks also, because unless i'm missing something, this is less than obvious. I was looking all over for where I could actually change the suit and helmet, expecting it to be in items or whatnot
