Hey,

I'm, officially, an A-Spec to B-Spec Convert. Having taken on around 75% of A-Spec, I thought I'd give B-Spec a go.

The obvious advantage to tackling A-Spec before B-Spec is that you have the opportunity to Purchase, Upgrade and Set Up Cars for your future B-Spec Career. For example, I'm using a Ford Focus RS with Racing Filter, Sports Cat, and High RPM Turbo. With S. Haas behind the wheel - he's my Driver - it's thrashing the competition.

First impressions? B-Spec is much more relaxed than A-Spec. I get to sit back, and watch - essentially - a Live Race, whilst giving the occasional instruction. And what's best about it all, is that I get Cash, and Prize Cars, from participating!

What are your B-Spec experiences? How does it compare to your expectations?

Cheers,

Boab

Apart from the Furai and the Toyota GT-One there isn't much that interests me other than the old Le Mans cars but it's easier to use the birthday cheat to get them.

So I'll probably just do the MX5 race get the Furai and leave it at that unless I get the urge to give it a further go.

I'm actually having a pretty good time in B spec. I'm not always in the mood to climb behind my wheel and, at this point, basically grind for cash, so B-spec makes a nice change. I can just sack out on the La-Z-Boy, doesn't matter how many beers I drink, and win a little extra cash and some cool cars. And watching my Minolta race car going against RX-7's and Impreza's...it just never gets old :)

It seems that you aren't required to grind as much in B-Spec than in A-Spec. Getting up to the expert level of races is pretty straightforward, and if you can complete each each in all the categories, it will be real easy to level up fast.

That said, my driver is still bad at driving.

I've enjoyed B-Spec up until this morning, where I'm finally having to do the endurance races (2-3 times for one damn level up, mind you).

I'm honestly pissed PD made the XP system the way they did. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I had another PS3 and could actually play something else while I wait, but I can't do that.

yea you get half of what a-spec gets this game was poorly thought out:grumpy:

I am having a good time on B spec. the only thing that sometimes bothers me is the braking zones the drivers use..sometimes much to early and it seem no matter how much training you give it never changes...like stubborn sometimes..but overall its fun .

I have had a bad cold since Tuesday which is still lingering and until yesterday I didin't feel like doing much in the way of new A spec stuff. Admittedly earlier in the week I didn't feel much like doing anything at all. B spec was all I felt like doing to any great extent and I managed to finish up enough races to get my B spec from Lv 16 to Lv 20 yesterday, which included completing the remaining Expert (?) races. It did involve a little grinding, but repeating the Lv 18 Championship got me to Lv 19 (well the third race did but I continued for the cash bonus). The remaining Lv 19 events got me comfortably to Lv 20.

Try doing the INDY 500 12 times and the Suzuka 1000km's twice to get from 30 to 32 :grumpy:

Apart from the XP leveling up system i'm really enjoying B-Spec

I've got two Bobs in the 30's Levels and four others in the high 20's

Only thing is my PS3 has been on B-Spec for 12 Days 24/7

I'm now on my 3rd Ring 4 Hour Race . i'll do one more before bed and overnight another Suzuka 1000km to get too level 33 by morning

There isn't a hope in hell of me bothering with the 9 hour Race the XP isn't good enought too warrant it so it'll be a mix an mash slog to get to level 35 somehow

At least now I can just sling the Bobs in any decent car and do other things without the need to button mash them to death 👍

B Spec for the 1000 times easier way. I went to Level 35, got the X1. Went back over to A Spec and killed every single hard race there ever was. With B Spec, it's not hard at all to keep training drivers to driver. Now I just been flying through A Spec as nothing can beat this car. I can just enter and win with little effort at all when grinding.... no stress.

B-spec is fine, but the credit prizes are lousy. I guess b-spec bob is high maintenance fellow and takes over half of the money...suzuka 1000km gives just over 50000Cr :grumpy:

LOL, yeah it sucks! Just a heads up. I'm on my 3rd go around of the Le Mans 24hr right now. I've beatin the Tsukuba 9 hour like 6 times, Nurburgring 4 hour like 6 times, Indy 500 1 time, Roadster 4 hours like 4 times, Grand Valley 300km like 4 times. Get used to the console just sitting there for days and days and days..... I've already had to rebuild my X1's motor ( $500k ) as it dropped over 100hp and a avg 20mph.

Please dont get me wrong, but I dont think this is the real sense of this game.
You reach Level 40 (or even 50?), and then? You start racing online just to find out that you have to practice all the other cars that you have but never used?

I'm Level 27 a-spec now and I won't start grinding just to get the X1. I'll start enjoying racing my friends online:)

That would be true accept for the fact I been playing this game since the PS1. Winning is winning, you can stress it out or you can dominate. Choice is yours as neither is wrong. I used the X1 to beat Like the Wind, All Stars, etc ( harder races ). Not the easy ones or ones that are car specific. Now I can sit over in A Spec and earn the 98,000 credits in American Championship in like less then 4 mins lapping cars.

B-spec is "easy" once you get to the enduros but it's crazy time consuming for doing essentially nothing.

My expectations varied. I thought we'd get GT4 Bspec originally, then before lvl20 I was pretty worried because I wasn't planning on babysitting bob during a 24 hour enduro. Now that most of us are at LVL 20+ we all realize it's kinda pointless really. I don't really want to play a game where I'm a manager of anything (sports teams/drivers/whatever).

The real sad part is that Bspec gives me time to stare at the TV and realize how badly PD dropped the ball. But I'm not going to rant in this thread.

I like the car you win and the surprising performance out of him.....I just had him ran down the 5 cars ahead at Monaco for the historic cup and won that race for me....and won me the Zagato Alfa.....

My only issue with the mode is that unlike A-spec where you can get EXP from Special events and Licenses, B-spec is designed for grinding, as once you are over some level you are forced to race some races repeatedly to get enough EXP to unlock more races....and that is literally a chore....especially when he is racing I can't be...

I can't say enough about how much I HATE B-Spec... Are you guys so tired or bored of DRIVING multi-million dollar cars at insane speeds around great race tracks that you REALLY want some idiot AI that you have next to NO CONTROL over to have all the fun? Really? :yuck:

That you can't really bypass this awful section if you want to get as many cars as possible without serious grinding is intolerable. As short changed as PD have made A-Spec, why they put much effort into this is crazy. Maybe I'm missing the point, but isn't GT5 supposed to be a DRIVING game? Not some RPG where you are a team manager (of idiots!) racing overpowered cars around a field of mostly uncompetitive cars for the ONLY reason of getting cars for free? Only it's not free... it sucks hours away from your life. Don't know about you, but MY time is worth something to me. Wasting it on this hare-brained idea is COSTING me time.:banghead:

Is it a Japanese thing? I bought GT5 to race cars around a track. Never wanted to be a team manager (or moron babysitter, in truth). Not that the game has ANYTHING to do with team managing IRL. Want a real RPG team manager game? How about lining up sponsorships, overseeing mechanics and pit crews, training those, R&D time, tuning (as part of the game)..?

Neither fish nor fowl, this section of the game confuses me about who it is SUPPOSED to appeal to.

Let's ALL be honest here... If there were NO B-Spec AT ALL, but A-Spec's events, challenges and License Tests were doubled, wouldn't this be a FAR, far better game? If there were no B-Spec, but online offered the easy matchmaking and credits for winning (and serious penalties for being a 🤬 ) that other racing games have, wouldn't it be a FAR, far better game?

Maybe Kaz is spending far too much time managing his game team, and not enough time PLAYING the game? It certainly seems those priorities got written into it, like it or not...

Would have been nice if they had the fast forward like GT4, or atleast not doubled the laps while cutting the prize money in half for most races. But I don't see what is so bad about it, you get credits while you aren't playing and if you put in a overpowered car you don't have to pay any attention.

Its definitely a grind, and its kind of sad because often in B-spec, I'm forced to do other stuff because its just plain boring watching your guy race for 15 minutes at a time.
