I just want to take a moment to recognize my schools big win over its first top ten opponent ever in the short 10 year history of the football program!
The University of South Florida Bulls vs Louisville Cardinals (9)
Right from the start of the game, the energy was high. The crowd was into it, and students that were there 2 years ago when USF faced Louisville in the same stadium and won then, knew that this time was going to be no different.
The cardinals entered the stadium underneath the students. Not a good recption insued. The chant that the members of the team were geeted with was "Over... Rated!!! Over... Rated!!!" Students with foam hands made sure the players saw only one important finger of foam the whole time they were near.
USF fed off this energy, and defense stepped up the energy. The combination of monster hits, constate pressure on the QB, the Cardinal offense could do nothing. Their first visit to the red-zone ended with a feild goal try that hit the goal post. The goal post closest to the students. Crowd noise was unbelievable. I personally stood the whole game. Cardinals would mess up, "Over-Rated" would burst out in the crowd.
Half time score: 24 - 7 USF on top. The Cardinals were predicted to win by 3 touchdowns, and suddenly they were down by 17 points.
First play second half. USF keeping the energy high and the crowd loud, the bulls are set to receive the kick. Catch, run, touchdown. If the students weren't happy yet, I think nervousness was gone, and celebration started to set in.
In the third quater, USF back-up quaterback, Courtney Denson came in and played. Scoring slowed, and stayed at 31-7. Forth quater, USF's starting quaterback comes back in. Drives consit of runs, and major defense. Toward the end, Pat Julmiste, the starting QB ended up flumbling on a scramble. This set up the Cardinals for their second touchdown of the game.
After that, it was my impression Pat Julmiste wanted to get those 7 points back. The coaching staff was right there with them. Leading a drive that took the bulls to their 38 point, and then after another great defensive stand, their 45 point score. The game ended, with a defensive interception, and with a QB knee to run the clock out.
The team that was suppose to win by 3 touchdowns, walked out loosing by 4 touchdowns, and a feild goal. OVER RATED!!!! OVER RATED!!!!
A great night was had, and students have hope, as USF faces Miami (FL) this week in Miami.
I will be attending this game as well.
The resulting win, lead AP voters to give USF seven votes this week in th poll, meaning USF is now ranked 32nd. Not bad for a team that is only ten years going.
GO BULLS!!!!
The shock is on the front page of ESPN, college zone. Check it out! Look at the sad Cadinals QB! Awh...
