I wanted to start a poll as to how many recent members (excluding Premium Members) know the AUP, but I was afraid that it would start a flame war and I will eventually be kicked out of here. so I want to make a suggestion as to what to do in regards to displaying the AUP, because, me personally, I don't even know where's it at. Yeah, I know Scaff made a thread displaying it in the GT5:P Forum, but, for me, that's not enough. I know the perfect way that I can Fix the problem so that way people won't get banned.

When A person first registers on :gtplanet:, just put the AUP in the "I agree to..." place. that way everybody who registers will know the policy.👍

And please don't flame me or kick me out. I just want to help out so the new members will know what to expect. also, there will be less reminders from the Mods about following the AUP. Simple.

You can find the link to the AUP at the bottom of each and every page you visit on this site:

Provided that they read it.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't think that I've ever actually read the AUP in it's entirety. Really, no one should need to as most (all?) of it is common sense.

As for where to find the AUP, like opelgt1969 pointed out, it's the footer of every single page. It's not like it's hidden. If you have to question yourself as to if you should/could post something or not, chances are you shouldn't, and it all else fails, send a Mod a PM and ask them. They don't bite. Much.

I never read any policies of the sort when I register to a site or install a program. Of course as TB mentioned, most of it is common sense. Of course there are a few people who seem to fall outside the box (including some people that have been registered here for a while and can't seem to remember the rules in a certain picture thread...:odd:). And the rest is history.

But the rules in the "I agree to..." part basically are the AUP. The AUP just goes into a little more detail. The important parts are right here from the rules dialog:

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

That short sentence should cover it, yet as stated below, almost no one ever reads anything before agreeing to it. There are also, as stated, links on every page, not to mention the Unofficial Common Sense Rules For Posting at the top of the main off-topic board. Many people don't even read the sticky FAQ threads and some, in fact, don't even look at the first page of each forum index before posting a duplicate thread. Unfortunately, although we can provide the information as many places as possible, we can't make people read it.

And please don't flame me or kick me out.

 Why would we do that?

I agree with you, my friend, but most people don't read the terms they accept when they create an account. I, at least, read it, but even if I don't, I at least know what can I say or what I cannot say. It's mainly common sense, as Duke mentioned. I had thought the same way as you did. And I came up with the following: you can't control people to obey. It's impossible, as you can't get into one's mind.

Think of it this way :

If you post a picture or say anything off the wall (sexist, racist, death) ,would you really want your children to see such things,ON A PUBLIC FORUM ? I think not.Even though the internet can be a strange place for kids to be on at times, I realize that such things are readily available to kids who do their "surfing the web" thing.I feel that a place like this :gtpflag: is doing a fine job by alleviating such issues to make it a more friendly environment for all ages, for the little kids and us big kids as well.

It's a no brainer just like TB said,USE COMMON SENSE,and you'll be fine. 👍
