A Tale Of (extreme) WOE (plus a question)

Fellow GT'ers... the tale of which I'm about to unfold to you is one of great sorrow...
I've been obsessed with this racing game since the beginning, each installment was better than the next, than we were blessed with the mother of all racing games... GT4.
I instantly went to work pounding on the PS2, having the great massive 'automotive heaven' slowly begin to reveal it's many levels & facets
...a truly brilliant game.

Here are (were) my specs
-99.8% complete (mission 34 still pending)
-24844 A Spec points
-80 Gold Cups
-8500 A Spec miles
-Trophies 1506
-Win Ratio 70.5
-Prize Credits 76,894,000
-Cars Owned 638
-B Spec Miles 65,528
-B Spec Skill 8592
-Mach Skill 95
-Course Skill 87
-Battle Skill 83

Today I went to attack 'Mission 34' once again...but alas when my game started to load the dreaded 'CORRUPT DATA' appeared on the screen instead....Whaaaaaaaaaaaa, Do you know how F$#@$ long it took me to get all of those RARE CARS!!!!! all the black race cars, all the low mileage used cars all the one timers...$#@#@ #$@#$ #@$@$#$$$$!!!!!!
I wanted to jump up and down on the console & kick the F$#@ out of the TV,
instead I choose to whine & cry to some people who might understand this terrific loss :(
Now here is some advice... buy another memory card back up your game regularly to the other card as well to avoid this rotten circumstance.
The good news is that I did do just that about a month ago...but I sold all 638 of my machines off of that card so I could use it as an uncluttered Test Bed... So in reality I only lost my original game and all my cars (I still have my game stats)
........Any Way Do any of you know how to recover corrupt data off of these memory cards??? if so drop me a line pleeeease
(I want My Cars Back!!! ...sniff ...sniff)

Buy MaxDrive.
Backup to your PC and any others you can find.

Won't help you now, but it will stop it happening again.

But It might get expencive. Maybe some fellow GTPlayer would copy his savegame to you if you sent a Mem-card.

I just ordered a max drive. That way I can backup my savegames to my computer. (Edit: Just as the slightly faster than me Famine just pointed out)
 
Thanks for bringing it up and reminding me to buy second memory card. I would really hate to lose my gamesave - 75.9% complete 75.900 A-Spec points.
 
I wouldnt really mind if my save became corrupted, as I am rather bored of GT4 now, I beat it last year 2 months after it came out, so I don't have much to do.


Sucks that you lost your data though.

You'd be delighted, as you could start all over again and do it the hard way (If you didn't do it the hard way in the first place).
 
I too just had a game save delete. NO, I did not delete it but my little brother need some room on the card and deletd the largest file, GT4. Im proudto say he is unable to play any video games due to a "sore" body

The same thing happened to me. I bought GT4 2 days after it was released and after about 4 months I'd made it to 99.2 or 99.4 or something. Then one day BAM--corrupted data--only I had no backup. I promptly put GT4 on the top shelf of my closet where it stayed until January. I finally got over it (somewhat) and have gotten back to 88%--but there are several missions that gave me terrible headaches the 1st time through and I've not convinced myself to even try them again yet. Needless to say, my save is backed up to the computer DAILY.
 
Thanks For the advice... The MaxDrive sounds like the ticket (as soon as I can find one...there seems to be a shortage of them in my area.) I can use it to pit my skills against you cats as well :P

Like I said before... I still have all my stats (on the other card) but it looks like I'm starting over on my original card to get all my wheels back :P

That sucks.... I have a max drive but i only got it for the WRS. i have never made back up copies of my games...(stupid me:lol:)
I have my original game and then i have one with all of the cars and like $512,111,999,123,456,996,696,999 on it...lol for testing and WRS races....

But i have been playing alot of Toca 3 online(i suck at that also BTW) so GT has been getting ignored :( i think i might be back though :lol:

Your brother (sorry to say) is a dumbass. He should ask before he deletes somthing. He wanted to play somthing, he needs to go buy a memory card him self.

I can't really i'm sorry for people for losing the save anymore, since idid happen to me last year, and now my PS2 broke...

No B-Spec I would imagine.

Not buying until you have to. Not tuning every car to the max so that you get tougher and closer races. No B-spec.
All licence and mission prize-cars should take you quite a bit before you have to buy something.

There are countless ways to enjoy GT4, find the one that suits you best.
 
I am a sucker for those "Memory Corrupt" messages...There always seems to be a "power outage" or "I-didn't-mean-to-hit-the-restart-button-while-it-was-saving" incidents. I have autosave on, so it saves the game everytime you get in a car, add a part, sell/buy a car and all that so I'm usually in for bad results

But I don't let them stop me!

I've beaten GT4 three times already! I really don't feel the missions and all that are ALL that hard. The Skyline Mission was hard at first but now I made friends with the "yellow line", and Mission 34 only takes me a few tries before I beat it.

Sadly, I'm having to beat it again, but I'm not stopping. I missed the Black Cars so I'm waiting for day 1394 to buy them. I'm currently on day 1104 or something... o well.

with over 11000000 credits whos to worry?

....Hmmm, No B-Spec Eh? I can't see pulling that one off until I'm retired :P(letting my PS2 run on pause for a few days during the 24 h races can't be a good thing ... for my game disc or the console..?)

On the other hand I am going for high (not max...I'm too lazy to turn the console off when you blow a race to keep the records clean & steep :P) A-Spec Points this time around...

Well,....These things happen, sadly:indiff:...
The same thing happened to my mate at 83.4% but it was a thing of the past and now he started again and is back at 59.3%.

I'll take your advice:idea:👍

Maybe a good idea at 74.5%

My PS2 runs 24/7. Sill works fine! (well maybe for now. WHEN WILL IT GO WRONG?:Never:nervous:.

I even charge my PDA on it because you can charge it through the USB!
