I would ask this in the what-you-saw-today thread, but the enormous number of images really screws with my dial-up.

Anyway, I was on the freeway, and I saw something in my mirror. It was painted bright orange, it had a VW logo, and it looked like a Golf/Rabbit that had been lifted a bit (SUV-ified).

Before you say VW Tiguan, I’m positive that it wasn’t. And before you say VW Golf Plus, I’m positive it wasn’t that either. Here’s why:

The headlights looked remarkably similar to the first-generation Acura RSX. If you took a current-generation Jetta’s headlamps and made “notches” on the bottom for the dual lamps, you’d basically get a first-gen RSX headlight assembly, and that’s what it looked like this thing had.

Also, it didn’t have the new corporate VW grille. It had a fairly normal, not-so-vulgar grille (a bit like the stock Golf/Rabbit). However, the bottom fascia had a gray plastic portion – think of the Golf R32’s grille, but not going all the way up to the grille (stopping at the license plate). It was more sharply trapezoidal than the R32’s grille though.

Any ideas?

(And no, I didn’t see the sides or back. A little bit after I first noticed it, there was a traffic jam, and for some reason he took the slowest lane and so got stuck way way way behind me.)

Hmmmmm.... Volkswagen CrossPolo?

Ah, yes, that’s it – thanks! (I didn’t even think of checking the Polo family. :dunce:)
