I am so pissed. My mom just called me. She's been driving my Miata, 'cause it's so much better to drive then her SUV.

Some asshole in a white truck, with a white trailer, backed into her, completely ignoring her horn and screams, and then sped off.

Now, my almost new paint is ruined, and one of the lights is shattered.

The good news, is that she got the license number of the car, and the cops came. When she mentioned that it's supposed to be my car, the cops were in total agreement with me, that it's a nice car, but not one I should be driving.

So, it looks like this accident has removed the major barrier that was preventing me from getting an FC3S!

You have to realize, this is LA, and people are judged by their cars. And the image that car presents is not the image I want people to have of me.
 
And don't forget short people. Being 6'4", I can't even drive one, so...bleh.

I'm sorry to hear about the car though...no car deserves that (except for Chevy Cavaliers).

It's cutesy. But with very little "intervention" It can be VERY un-girly. Especially the older variants.

That way the only real visible signals that the thing may be more than a "hairstylist's special" is the wheels and roll-bar.
Most girls like "danger", with the appearance of sensibility. They'll also know that if you intend to separate them from their clothing, it'll likely not be in the car (that's tacky).
They'll think the Miata is "cute". Right until you "wake up" the supercharger.

Girly, no. The gender majority that drive the car should not cause a label to be put on the car. I don't think it's a majority either. All of the Miata drivers I know are guys, my uncle had one, and I've talked to many owners online that are guys.

If you don't want your Miata, I'll proudly take it off your hands Takumi. :)

Yeah, I'd agree and say it's probably about a fifty-fifty split between male and female buyers. Even 'girl cars' like the New Beetle had a 60 female to 40 male buyers ratio, and that was before the turbocharged engine went in.
 
I think the car is very girly, but Id drive it any day of the week. Its an absolute blast and is the near perfect balance between power, weight, and road manners. Also, there's no such thing as traffic when youre driving a miata...
 
I drove one for a short time and really liked it... I don't care if people dont like it, the average person likes SUVs, they wouldnt stop me from driving a good car.

The shifter is just awesome, and you can park in the craziest places.

I once saw a black Miata that had a really badass black hardtop, and nice rims. This car was pulled together very well...everything was in perfect proportion, and the lines of the hardtop gave it a Viper-ish look. Definitely a car guy's car. 👍 👍
 
dude i don't mean to be offensive but why do you car what others think.. your acting as if all that matters is to be what others want you to be. Find a car that you love.. not what others love.. otherwise your worrying about what the in thing.. think about this if everyone got a toyota celica would you.. then after you finally pay for it they sell em and get like a .. i don't know dodge neon.. would you.. i personally drive a 1984 monte carlo.. i work dam hard for it its not much but i love it.. thats what you should be worrying about .. what you like.. what you can see yourself driving.. i wouldn't mind a miata cuz they can be find bombing around corners and stuff but i just can't fit in em :lol: anyways.. but yeah find yourself your own car, and get back to me with what it might be k!;) allright later man.

Do you really value the opinions of people so mentally insipid and lazy they can't be bothered to judge a person based on their character?

IMO, people who diss Miatas are just plain ignorant. Especially people who consider themselves "car enthusiasts". They're actually just posuers in my book.

If you want to take the view that a Miata's not a good car from a safety perspective, thats one thing. But don't let some kind of sad sterotype alter your own view about your car.

BTW. You spent the whole post lamenting your car, but don't actually mention if your mother is okay. A car is just a pile of metal, glass and rubber. I hope the flesh and blood part of your situation is okay.

Cars can be guy cars or chick cars just from appearance. There's something about the contour of a car that can indicate masculinity or femininity.

The miata kinda looks soft and girly. It needs some sharper lines like the rx-8 to look like a guy's car.

Take the ford 150 for instance. The 02 model looked femanine. The new model is much more masculine.



...oh, and I agree. You shouldn't let other people's opinions tell you what to drive.
 
if your gonna be that silly.. i'll tell you this.. Cars are girls... trucks and anything bigger are guys... example: christine - Plymouth Fury, any car can be a guys or girls car.. depends who drives it.. look at elvis.. a pink cadillac.. and he was no fag... i personally liked jail house rock

Madness - once I sell my other house, I'm thinking of buying an early 1.6 or 1.8 original MX-5/Miata and doing a little work on it - shocks, springs and maybe exhaust. They are the epitome of 'handling', and are great fun at legal speeds - which, in these days of speed cameras at every turn in Sydney, is pretty important.

...and if you think I'm gay because I'm driving one, well, you've got your own problems to deal with...
 
OK, sorry if I pissed someone off with what I said, but I actually have been called a "fag" to my face, mulitple times, while driving, or mentioning that I drive, a Miata.

Truth is, though, it's not only what other people think. I feel uncomfortable driving the car myself. It's just not right for my personality. I feel a lot better in something slightly bigger. And convertibles just don't do it for me.

That's why I'm moving up to a Nissan 240SX S14, or, If I can scrape 18k together...... Well, I can have one hell of a car. MotoRex lists a '90 GTS-t at 18k, and, well, I've always wanted a Skyline....
 
yeah... same here, being from canada, i am not much for "imports" all my friends drive the 240s 300zx celica mitsubishis and all that.. bunch of street racers lol.. though i know alot about them.. i am way more into driving somehting like a GTO Judge or a Trans-am, Camero, The old Mopars.. straight out no bull muscle... i like the older muscle for looks power sound and ride... but i like some of them imports when done right they can be fun to boot around corners in.. If i could ever afford one i'd like a 300zx i know somebody who customed a chevy small block 350 into one.. and its fun to drive lol i know for a fact.
