OH DEAR. I'm stuck again now, this time on the Evo time trial. My best is 1:10.052. I can't even get into the 1:09s!! Are there any tips for handling the evo and the Tsukuba Circuit??

The evo time trial is in my opinion the hardest license test on GT4P, the others are MUCH easier.

Tsukuba: c. 30 tries
Fuji: c. 5
NYC: 3 (wow!)
Grand canyon: 7 (kept crashing)
Citta di aria: 2 (how about that)

as for tips o handling, just don't go in corners too far, slow right down iof you have to, and slowly make it faster. You have to be COMPLETELY familiar with the car before you'll get results with this one, so just KEEP AT IT. Most importantly, don't drive hard. Take it easy, and you'll do it. I may only have got a bronze, but I reckon gold isnt too far away, given you can keep calm about it.

the ghost is very useful, you can see where to chip away at your time by seeing where you went wrong before, just keep practicing and beating your ghost!

I know this is abit old..........but I STILL can't pass the Spoon S2000 on N.Y. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I have tried like 20 times......I passed the other car once but after 3 seconds it hit me from behind and that was it!!!! I really dont see how you can pass this test.....all the others were easy, I really want to move on to the other licences and cars. I have the Chinese version by the way. I know this licence has been tlked about before but pleeeeeaseee help me....:(

I had problems with that one too, I keep missing it by quite a margin until eventually I did it & was quite a bit under the required time :embarrassed:

Love it when that happens  Good luck.

Do you mean lesson 31.

Its a tricky track.

First Hairpin brake before 50m and clip first apex get good exit speed. Mess this up and you'll loose time all the way down the straight.

Clip all the 90 corners as much as possible, always carry your speed out the corners even if it means breaking a little earlier.

The little complex is where most time can be lost, smoothly go through because the last left onto the straight is most important. You should see a time split of about +5 secs.

The roundabout shape at the top left of the map is next, stick to the inside all the way round, go easy cause you need to line up for the last right onto the home straight. You need to be just switching into third on the apex for good exit. Slow out of here can lose nearly a second up the main straight.

You should be right up behind the other car by now, you might be able to draft him, or just follow him down to the first hairpin. His exit is bad so you can easily draft him on next straight.

I got a 2:32 for gold.

Just practice the track and ignore the car, until he seems slow!

Yeah but don't you just hate it sometimes!

Like when u r chasing 0.05s for a gold, and just when you are coming up to the trickiest part, it leaps out in front of you and completely obliterates your view!

I also accuse it of cheating, even though its usually my ghost lap!

Thanx for the walkthrough of the lap.......i'm gonna try it and hopefully i'l just pass it let alone going for gold. It really put me off when I had passed the car but it hit me........how is it my fault! anyway......its only a game I guess!

thanx again

Yeah, that test was a *****. Here's my hints: brake as late as you can, and take really sharp apexes. The Evo VIII MR is a sack-o-lard and doesn't want to turn at all, so minimizing the time spent turning will help.

Or something like that.

LOL I was just on this today (The EVO VIII) and after 3 goes I went to do another test. It really is hard but eventually i will get i guess just got to keep at it. Not relly answering the topic but i thought it might be nice to hear that other people are fiding it hard also.:)

I know I've had a few problems passing some of the tests, and I found these two tips really helped me.

1. You are talking about a few 10th's of a second. In real terms it takes longer to blink your eye. So trust me will, you can do. I found that having my best laps ghost turned on, and then drive the lesson from the 2nd external camera view was a great way to help shave off the odd 10th.

2. If you are getting pissed off with it. Just walk away, after all it's only a game, it's there to entertain you after all. Then once you've cleared your head. Have another go.

Happy racing.

Cheers

yep it can get very annoying! you try so hard to beat it, it might take you a few goes and then when you do your all happy and then realise now you have to beat the even faster ghost! :banghead:

its all good fun though  just dont try hitting the ghost off the track... doesn't work i'm afraid :( ;)

Done it. After that one, all the rest were easy. Especially the GT one - 2 trys and it was finished. That Lancia rips that track up. I completed school mode now but I didn't get any golds. Ahh well....I only rented and it's gone back now :(

Why oh why can you not slipstream your ghost?!?!

C.

Er yeah, slipstreaming something that ain't there must be quite hard. Notice the phrase 'the REAL driving simulator'.

You can't surely say that slipstreaming a ghost is realistic??!!!

As for the seattle one, that was the only other test I had real grief with beside the Evo8 one. I can't really offer guidelines other than take it easy, and ignore the game's change gear warnings. For that test i seem to remember braking just as -2 appeared and flashed. Brakes full on. I hit the wall at high speed and got failed. Let that be a lesson to you.
I seem to remember the same on Autumn ring in GTC - brake when they tell you, and its an offroad adventure through the gravel.

As for the cheating ghost, it always seems to get infront of you somehow at the beginning, particularly on the grand canyon (?) but i any case, I prefer not to use it, because it isn't really a ghost at all, ghosts aren't 90% opaque.

You obviously didn't notice that we were joking about the ghost?!

as for the cheating ghost... it doesn't cheat, otherwise you'd be accusing yourself of cheating! sometimes when you start from a standstill you get less wheelspin and therefore are quicker away then if you just put your foot to the floor as it were.

polyphony001, if when you say grand canyon you mean the early test with the suzuki alto, when you start off on full power you will see the revs drop to a certain rpm and then the gear 1 indicator will come brighter and the revs will rise again, well try holding revs at this certain rpm when on the line and as soon as you start moving put full power on. it can take about 1 sec off your time if you start perfectly 👍 i dont know if you knew this but try it out if you havn't before! put the ghost on and see how much time you make up!
