Able or not able?

I ask this because I want to invest in car that can change rims and spoiler so I can take very nice pictures of this very nice car..I just don't want to buy a car that can't change rims or spoiler not knowing so. It's happened a few times.. So Far I made a very nice Black Elise 111R with a Black 3D wing, and black rims with chrome lip from BBS i think.. So my question is..

How can you tell if the car is considered a "production" car?
Is there a way to know if a car can add/change its wing?
Is there a way to know if a car can change its rims?
 
Just get an M3 GTR. That car is a nice loking car, and you can also add a wing and change rims
 
uhhhhhh right. and now for a real answer. unfortunately their isnt any way to know if a car will take a wing or rims, other than with a little creative reasoning. race cars cant take wings, though. thats an obvious one. also the saleen S7 cannot take a wing and the F1 cannot take rims. all the "special" cars usualy reject both the wings and rims. it's up to you to figure out which ones those are though, but for example, the caterham seven, and most of the concept cars. you really just kind of have to know whats production and what isnt. usualy that shouldnt be too hard to tell though.
 
A few of the RUF's won't take a wing, either.

I don't believe there is list yet of cars that will and won't take a wing.

Sounds like an undertaking you might become well known for, DeSwyft.

As opposed to how you're known now.
 
Quite a few Supercars and concepts don't take spoilers: Zondas, Saleen, RUF RGT, Spyker Laviolette... However, some, like the Ford GT, TVR Speed 12 and Cadillac Cien don't only accept a spoiler - they also have increased downforce on the rear (10 extra on the TVR, 20 extra on the Ford. Don't know on the Cien, but it accepts a spoiler.
Other cars which won't accept can be pretty obvious: Racecars, and cars with weird/spoiler-unfriendly shapes, like the Caterham, Fiat 500, Subaru 360, Daihatsu Midget. Some, with moving/changing stock spoiler, are obvious: Mercedes McLaren SLR, That 325HP Mitsubishi concept (Both have airbrakes, the Mitsu's spoiler also goes up on one side for improved turning).

However, most (road/concept) cars accept a rim-change. Apart from racecars, the only other car I know only runs stock rims is the Caterham.

The Cien has a moveable wing as standard. Can it still accept a wing on top of that?

Good question. Last time I drove it was when I started the game 4-5 months ago (One of my first races was Citta di Aria in a fully-tuned Overkill NSX), and even though I used it quite a lot, I can't remember now. I think it had a wing, but now I'm not so sure. Violated the AUP right there, didn't I? "Thou shall not post wrong information" -; Book of Mods, Chapter 1
 
The TVR Cerbera Speed 6 takes spoilers and rims and actually looks lovely.

It's got brilliant handling too iff you mess with it. :)


EDIT: - My Cien has a custom spoiler. You can indeed add them. :)

Now that's an interesting thought. Much like the Acts of Gord. Another fine undertaking that needs a good writer.

I still say that DeSwyft should begin to compile a full list of cars that can take a wing.
 
I was working on this list awhile back, but I got sidetracked and didn't finish it. Maybe I will be able to complete it this weekend and post it in a finished state.

Basically, there are a few rules, but each has exceptions:

No race car can change rims, spoilers, or add dirt or snow tires.
(Notable Exception: Mazda6 Touring Car and others I am sure...)

There are no basic rules for rally cars as some can change rims and spoilers and others cannot.

No "premium sports" cars (Aston, BMW, Benz, etc) can add dirt or snow tires.

"Supercars" cannot add wings. (McLaren SLR, Saleen S7, VW W12, etc)

No car made before 1970 can get a wing.


I'll attach what I have so far so that you can see what I have compiled. It's an excel file inside of the zip file. There are columns for D/S (Dirt/Snow tires), Rim (Change rims/wheels), and Wing (Changing/adding spoiler). I am using the NTSC version (not Greatest Hits), so there may be regional differences and/or omissions. (Ignore the T and S columns...I haven't really worked on those yet.)

Oh, and I am sure there are misspells in there too. I did most of this work when home recovering from surgery. So...this is not a complete work, but enjoy what is there.

HAHAHA, THAT IS SO FUNKY!! A Wing on a Wing hahahaha. I wonder who thought of that idea...
