About the 22B in the Impreza 22B...

I got a "Base Converter" on my calc, which can change decimal to hex and binary (or any one to the other two). Anyways, I was putting in random numbers, and I put in 555. In hex, 555 is -get this- 22B! Is this one heck of a coincidence, or is the 22B Impreza got a bit of heritage off the 555 Impreza Rally car in the form of a strange little subliminal number conversion?

Neat. I always thought the 22B was pretty random. 👍

Ah the mathematicians at subaru have really done there work on this one. The The 22B was a nostalgia piece, although for the then current model, it has a 2.2 liter Boxer engine, and the only availible color is 555 sonic blue.

I like all the hot 2 door WRX's available in GT2.
However, none of them are worth a hoot until you put in the racing transmission.
The 22B is the best looking of the bunch, even with the ugly stock wheels.

the Interceptor
I always thought it's named 22B because it has a 2.2 liter Boxer engine.

Correct, it's normally a 2.0 liter engine.

Interesting coincidence of 555d and 22Bh, though!

I suspect the name comes from the engine but it is amazing how coincidences occur isn't it. Almost makes you believe in a GOD after all.

It's because Subaru are a bunch of Satan-worshipping occult pagans. think about it: all those pentagramish stars in their logo... and then the letter B is the 2nd letter of the alphabet. There's two 2's and a B (22B) so there's 3 figures altogether. 2x3=6, right? And if you take it a step further, you could just say: "aw hell, let me multiply all of those 2's by 3". What do you get then? 666. Then if you think about it, whenever you see a paganish hippy type with tons of bumper stickers on the back of their car that say things like "all who wander are not lost' or "My other car is a bicycle" what are they driving?? Either a VW bug or bus, a Subie wagon, or (less often) a Volvo, simply cuz Volvos last forever. Think about it.

Disclaimer: *The above post is intended for entertainment purposes only. It was in no way intended to be inferred that the automotive marque Subaru and Subaru related products are really a sign of pagan, devil-worshipping, magik, pot smoking, faeries, Rainbow gatherings, and other countercultural activities***

I was joking earlier, but there are actually some people who firmly believe the Subaru symbol is based on occult/mythic symbolism. Same thing with Proctor & Gamble's little moon & stars picture.

Hello from Ireland Where you will find more World Rally Cars per anything (sq. mile , person, ect ect) in the world. Fact.

Anyway I always thought that the 22B got its name from 2.2 liter engine and if it was homologated it would be in the banned Group B class as it is a four wheel drive (not necessary for Group B) and over 2 liters in engine capacity.

Anyway happy holidays,
bf1

Side note on the whole hex number thing:

Entering "<body text="#22B22B">" in HTML brings up just the opposite off the 22B's only color: a natural green color.

Subaru is a Japanese name of the six major stars of the cluster of seven the Greek-based astronomological world calls "The Pleiades". Sort of ironically, this cluster is found in the constellation Taurus.

They were thinking of calling the cars Mutsura-Boshi ("six stars") but that didn't have such a clean ring to it.

Actually Subaru apparently does mean "seven sisters" even though they use only six stars. It is somewhat confusing.

"Mitsubishi", by-the-way, means "three diamonds"...

Okay, so "three diamonds" is a simplicification...

Hence the Mitsubishi icon! Thank you, I didn't know that. ;)

It's not a coincidence, it was made as a homage to the success of the Subaru World Rally Team. You will notice that the 22B is Impreza model that comes closest to being a WRC car. The body of the car is the same as the 1997 WRC Impreza.

Also, the most limited one :(

Did ya know you could change a couple of more numbers in memory and change parts of that 22B? Like the hood scoop, Rear Spoiler etc, etc.....

Nor me either.

Does anybody know what Nissan or Honda stand for?

Apart from c*** cars!!!

Warning!!! That was meant in a humours way and doesn't represent the view of TMM. And the question was serouis.

Homda doesnt mean anything, its the name of the founder of honda motor company, soichiero honda, which started off as a motorbike manufacturer after WW2

Nissan was a combination of many many corporations under nippon sangyo ziabatsu, which eventually was abbreviated to nissan in the 30s, like 70 different companies under one umbrella, and was one of the biggest corporations in japan during WW2

i watch discovery turbo a lot :boggled:

edit, i was searching for impreza 22B posts and have just realised i grave digger'd a 6yr old thread lol

The origin of the name 22B has often been debated. Many assume 22 referred to the 2.2 liter displacement and the B was for the Bilstein suspension. This would correlate with the idea that Subaru sells a Legacy Spec B, where the B represents the Bilstein suspension. Others believe that 22B was meant to represent the much recognized 555 decal (555 is a tobacco company that was a major sponsor for Subaru in the WRC) on the WRC car as 22B is a hexadecimal representation of the decimal number, 555.
