Lately I've been driving stockers, not just stock PP but completely unmodified, and the Veyron perplexes me. OE tires are made specially for it by Michelin and cost somewhere in the area of $18,000 US, but in the game it comes with SH. I got to wondering, which tires would really be appropriate for it? What other cars "should" be driven with tires other than those supplied (higher grade or lower)?

Don't get me wrong, I get along just fine in the Veyron on SH with all assists off except for ABS (set to 1), but as soon as I switch ABS off it's not unlike piloting a hovercraft with no rudder control.

Someone posted a chart on these forums where he determined the best tires to use for "stock" performance by comparing the G-meter in the game with skidpad values in real life tests.

As for locking up your tires, lower the values of the brake bias and learn to modulate the brakes with the (I assume you're using) DS3, which is a bit of a challenge. Otherwise just leave ABS on 1. ABS doesn't really detract from the feel and handling of a car

Not really looking for a fix and adjusting the bias would mean modifying the car (I have plenty of modified Veyrons), I was merely using the Veyron as an example. I'll have to peek around for that chart you mentioned though.

I imagine that the Veyron tyres are so expensive because they are made to cope with the extreme load of carrying a 2 tonne car at 400 kph+. Not because they are so sticky.
As a matter of fact, if a Veyron were equipped with super sticky R tyres it would probably wear them out in no time.

A bit off topic but the Veyron is nothing but a troll car until it becomes a premium.

I know that part of it has to do with them not being flung from the rim at speed due to heat and rotational forces, but I have to imagine that they also possess copious amounts of grip for a sports tire because the car was engineered by Germans.

Completely off topic and a sentiment that has been beaten to death over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over (gets annoying, doesn't it?) and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

completely wrong way to look at it!
in order to make the car more authentic you need to do make some situation specific changes to gt5. if you keep the car stock it is less close to a stick car.

gt5 just slaps on a 5/5 brake balance on all cars. PD don't care if it's like that in real life or not, which it isn't as almost all cars have a stronger amount of braking force at the front.

Yet another reason for someone to lend me their Veyron. I need to drive it around and get a feel for how it actually performs. But seriously, I do realize the brake balance is likely off from the way the car exists in reality, but I think the tire issue is of greater importance.
